Liam Dunbar is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Derek Hale and Malia Tate) of the TV series Teen Wolf. He was accidentally turned into a beta level werewolf in the ninth grade by Scott McCall, who develops a paternal affection for, eventually becomes his best friend, alongside Mason Hewitt. He is also the boyfriend of Hikari Zhang, the ex-boyfriend of Hayden Romero, and close friends with Corey Bryant and Stiles Stilinski.
After being kicked out of his old school due to not taking his medications because of his IED, Liam and his parents moved to Beacon Hills, where he promised to keep his anger more in check. However,this became difficult for Liam after he was inadvertently turned into a werewolf by Scott, becoming his first Beta. Despite initially hating this new life style, Liam ultimately relied on Scott's support and became a member of Scott's pack. He was the one who broke him free from Kate Argent's Berserker spell.
In Season 5, Liam was manipulated by Theo into almost killing Scott when he refused to give Hayden the bite (afraid that it would kill her like it did with Paige Krasikeva). However, in the second half, Scott and Liam reconciled and both worked together to defeat the Dread Doctors and Sebastien Valet. In 2013, Liam broke up with Hayden Romero after saving Beacon Hills from the Ghost Riders. However he was outed as a werewolf in front of the entire school, forcing him to help Scott and the pack in defeating Gerard Argent, Monroe's Army, and the Anuk-ite.
By 2015, Liam was still a member of the pack and was currently helping his friends find other Supernatural orphaned creatures into their ranks to deal with the oncoming threat of Tamora Monroe and her soldiers.

Liam and Hayden were out on a date when suddenly, an empty car driove by, where they discovered young Alex Turner. They took him to the Sheriff's station and went to school the next day, where the two made out in the school courtyard.

- Liam was one of the two werewolves turned by Scott, the other being Hayden Romero, his ex-girlfriend.
- Allison was originally going to be Scott's first Beta. However, due to Crystal Reed's departure from the series, this role was given to Liam, who gets assistance from Scott, which would have been given to Allison instead.
- Liam has I.E.D. He has medication for it but he chooses not to take it because the drug makes him drowsy.
