Alexander Joseph "Lex" Luthor is one of the three main antagonists of the Superman franchise (alongside Darkseid and Brainiac).

He is the brother of Lena Luthor and one of the most recurring enemies of Superman, being his complete arch enemy. He is also the partial genetic template of Conner Kent, a distance relative of Jimmy Olsen and his family. Lex is a master manipulator, the leader of the Legion of Doom and works against Superman and his allies, the Justice League.

He founded LexCorp and has a deep, underlying hatred for Superman, driven out of jealousy for the other's attention and fame to those in Metropolis. In recent stories, he also has an infatuation with Lois Lane

Publication history

Lex Luthor was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and first appeared in Action Comics #23 in April of 1940.
