Leonidas "Leo" Valdez is one of the main protagonists of The Heroes of Olympus book series. He is the son of Hephaestus and Esperanza Valdez, the boyfriend of Calypso and one of the heroes of the prophecy of Seven. He is also the best friend of Piper McLean and the late Jason Grace, and close friends with Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Nico di Angelo, Frank Zhang and Hazel Levesque.

Background

Gaea, in fear of Leo being the one to play a part in her downfall, attempted to kill him when he was seven years old. She manipulated the fire that Leo created to guard himself and his mother and killed Esperanza. Due to this, his aunt Rosa blamed Leo for her sister's death, and called him a "diablo" (meaning "devil" in English).

He spent most of his time in foster care and became best friends with Piper McLean before they knew they were demigods. 

Physical Appearance

Leo is a sixteen-year-old demigod with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5'6" and considered fairly handsome compared to Percy Jackson and Jason Grace.
