- “Hey, don't worry guys. We'll be back together before you know it. ”
- ―Leo to his siblings
Leo Francis Dooley (born May 7, 1998) is one of the main protagonists in the Elite Force Universe. He is the protagonist of Lab Rats, a supporting character in Mighty Med and a background protagonist in Lab Rats: Elite Force. Loyal, caring and intelligent, Leo is initially an outcast until his mother married billionaire and philanthropist Donald Davenport and he meets his step-siblings, Adam, Bree and Chase and grows up. His stepfather, Donald had a lack of trust for Leo due to his tendency to accidentally destroy things, but has started to change his opinion, as he made Leo the team's "Mission Specialist."
Midway to Season 3, Leo becomes bionic after Douglas installs them to save his arm after it was crushed by a ceiling beam caused by Taylor when she blasted it on top of him and Donald put bionics in Leo's leg after it was crushed by a space elevator while saving his step-father. In the end of the series, Leo goes off to join Adam at the Bionic Academy and oversee the students' progress while Chase and Bree became members of the Elite Force.
He was the only son and eldest child of Tasha, the older half-brother of Naomi, the step-son and second-youngest child of Donald, the younger step-brother/cousin and best friends with Adam, Bree, and Chase, the step-cousin of Daniel and Marcus and step-nephew of Douglas.
In the series, he was portrayed by Tyrel Jackson Williams

Background
Season 3
Season 3 has a subplot about Leo becoming bionic. The episode "Parallel Universe" foreshadows him becoming bionic (anepisode in Season 2) and the beginning where Perry tells the students, "Get to class before they shoot missiles from [Bree, Adam and Chase's] fingers]" in "You Posted What?"foreshadows Leo being able to shoot laser spheres from his fingers.
Personality
Being a teenager in high school, Leo is still trying to find his place in it the world; however, he is sarcastic but is also caring when it comes to it. At the beginning of the series, he was still in what his future self called his "clumsy" phase but he formed a quick bond with Adam, Bree, and Chase. Despite being scared of them at first, he claimed them to be his best friends and considered them his siblings, calling Adam and Chase his brothers and Bree his sister In "Leo's Jam" and "Smart and Smarter." In turn, the trio has come to see Leo as their younger brother and closest friend, even trying to throw him a birthday party in return for all his hard work being their sibling. However, Leo can be arrogant at times, though not as much as Donald, however, this is sometimes built upon never being able to go on missions with Adam, Bree, and Chase because he's not Bionic. Additionally, did this by sometimes using Bree and Adam's bionics to his advantage and trying to one-up Chase. He is very close with his family and will do anything to protect them. This is proven when he tried desperately to prove to his family that Marcus was evil and that he and Douglas were trying to capture Adam, Bree, and Chase[20]. Despite teasing each other, Leo always helps his siblings and step-father whenever they are in need, as he FACED Marcus and Douglas to save his family when the villainous duo captured them. In Season 2, Leo began maturing but wanted to become part of the team; however, Donald pushed him aside because he was not bionic. After he stepped up on a mission that the other Lab Rats missed, Donald realized how responsible Leo was getting and made him the team's mission specialist[21]. By this season, Leo and Chase's relationship has been established as a strong bond, to the point where Leo was able to break his brother out of Douglas and Krane's Triton App[22]. He could also be a rebellious teenager like his mother Tasha was when she was younger and often disobeyed his father Donald or his uncle, Douglas.
In Season 3, Leo's maturity began to improve; instead of breaking his stepdad's inventions, Leo began to make his own and therefore began breaking his own, but only to learn from the mistakes. For example, he constructed security orbs to protect his siblings from Douglas and Krane, only for them to backfire, which included the inability to tell the difference between a real threat and a harmless threat. When Tasha wanted to call Donald to help their son turn off the Orbs when Leo could not shut them down, he refused to have Donald help because he wanted to prove to his stepfather he could do this on his own. However, Leo was able to find a way to deactivate them by tricking them to turn on each other and ended up telling his stepfather what happened. He was told by Donald that despite it being a failure, he could still learn from the mistake. He later did it again in "Three Minus Bree" when Leo created a capsule that could analyze a subject's illness. However, the pill also backfired because Leo put Eddy's mainframe into the capsule that his mother consumed and Tasha was possessed by Eddy until Leo was forced to tell the truth to Donald. It is shown at this point, Leo was also willing to put the past behind himself and his enemies if they show change, as he did with Douglas in "Taken" and Taylor (S-1) in "One of Us." He willingly listened to what Douglas had to say about Victor Krane and agreed to a fresh start with Taylor, eventually becoming friends with both of them. Despite still being slightly immature as he was in the past two seasons, he showed a great sense of maturity when talking to Douglas as the latter made fun of the fact that Donald could not fix Bree's chip when she smashed it. Leo told him that this was not about him beating Donald but rather helping Bree. On occasions with Donald and Douglas arguing, Leo mostly rolls his eyes in annoyance. He also has a childish side to his maturity. For example, he did look through Donald's suitcase and began to fight Douglas over an apparent high position as Donald's new Vice president only to learn his stepfather was messing with them in Face-Off; however, Leo did admit that it was wrong of them to snoop around Donald's things, but Douglas, showing he tried to get Leo to take most of the blame for everything. He also had a small rivalry with Spin, who is jealous of Leo because he can go on missions unlike him and liked to make him look bad. However Leo, despite taking a selfie with Spin and Bob while stuck in quicksand, berated them for going on a mission alone; when he learned Spin only wanted to prove he could go on missions when he was Leo's age, the teenager empathized with him and assured Spin he would get there eventually, which also improved their relationship.
Despite not having super intelligence like Chase, Leo was quite an intelligent teenager and was mentioned being the smart kid in school in the episode's premiere, mentioning it's not easy for him for Chase and the other Lab Rats. He is also quite intelligent, showing that he never liked Marcus even before it was revealed that Marcus was evil. Leo could also come up with plans for the missions, eventually becoming the team's strategic mission specialist. Like his brother Chase, Leo will sometimes remind people of the bigger picture, showing his sense of maturity yet again. The first time he reminded his siblings that they had to save Donald during the jet wing incident because he did the stupid stunt to give them the Lab back, causing Bree to realize their brother was right. Another time happened in "Which Father Knows Best?" where Leo told Douglas to get past his rivalry with his brother after Leo told him Donald couldn't fix Bree's chip when she broke it because Bree was more important. Additionally, Leo scolded his siblings for causing a blackout and fighting in "Rise of the Secret Soldiers." He also easily deduced that Douglas was behind cyberhacking Donald back when he was evil. Characters such as Douglas have said that Leo is a smart kid ever since the Marcus incident.
Ever since his mother married Donald, Leo remained supportive of her decision. After meeting his siblings, he wanted to become bionic like them, dropping hints to Donald. However, Douglas later gave Leo bionics to save his arm. The boy was excited but reckless with his bionics, something that caused Leo to connect Daniel with. Despite his closeness with Adam, Bree, and Chase, Leo felt overshadowed by his older siblings, similar to how Chase felt when Adam and Bree are praised more than him in "Avalanche" and how Douglas felt with Donald all of his life. This is shown in "Lab Rats: On the Edge," where he expresses hope that his siblings don't see him as just their little brother. However, Leo became slightly arrogant, but only because Chase kept degrading him, wanting to show Adam, Bree and Chase his team was better and inadvertently causing Taylor to go blind after maxing out their EMP Generation ability and which caused Leo to quit the Bionic Academy out of guilt. It wasn't until two weeks later when Leo came out of a sight retirement after his family was in trouble; however, he was reluctant to save them because of what he had done to Taylor. However, she did not blame Leo for what happened because it was an accident and encouraged him that she shouldn't let her blindness stop her from being a Bionic hero and neither should his guilt. Leo gained confidence and was able to free his siblings, dad, and uncle from the self-driving car.
After saving Chase and taking charge, Donald realizes Leo is ready and levels him up to mentor, where Chase tells Leo he is proud of his little brother. He also expressed hope to Bree and Chase that he would see his brother and sister again.
Powers and Abilities
Bionic Abilities
- Bionic Arm: After Leo's arm was crushed by a ceiling beam caused by Taylor when she was known as S-1, Douglas Davenport healed it with bionic components after learning his stepnephew would never be able to use his arm again. It have him secret abilities so Leo could have a defense skill.
- Super Strength: Leo has strength in his arm similar to his stepbrother, Adam Davenport, being able to lift a couch with his one arm and punch a dent in the wall. However, he is not strong enough to hold the space elevator for long.
- Laser Sphere Generation: Douglas gave Leo the ability to generate laser spheres in his hand. It is Leo's primary ability, and he uses it to knock out dangerous opponents, such as Victor Krane and Taylor (S-1). When Leo used it for the first time, he knocked a barrel over and nearly set Douglas' hair on fire. The teenager mostly has it under control, managing to hit his stepfather's holographic target board three times in the middle and it improved by the time of Season 4, where it becomes second nature for Leo.
- EMP Generation: Combined with Taylor's abilities, Leo and Taylor can create an EMP generation that can take out anything. The first time they did it blew out the electricity on Bionic Island and when they did it a second time, Leo accidentally caused her to go permanently blind. A third time, they were able to use the EMP ability to take out the safety lock that kept Donald and Leo's entire family locked in their self-driving car.
- Energy Transference: Douglas unlocked this ability for Leo during the Battle of the Bionic Soldiers. It allows him to absorb energy from another source of power. He can also use it in Battle, as he used it to take out Taylor back when she was only S-1 by absorbing her attack and then redirecting it back. In "Space Elevator" he claims he can absorb kinetic energy, which he did to absorb the impact of the elevator's fall.
- Super Durability: Leo bionic arm and leg are more durable than his non-bionic limbs. For example, when he attempted to punch a hole in the wall during "The Vanishing," he showed no pain in putting a dent in the wall nor when he kicked Eddy with his Bionic leg.
- Two Simultaneous Abilities (Possibly): When stopping an accelerated space elevator while supposedly saving his father, Leo used his super strength to stop the elevator and absorbed the kinetic energy to slow it down, which possibly means he was using both at the same time.
- Bionic Leg: Leo was given a bionic one by Donald after his original was crushed by a space elevator. It is shown again in "The Vanishing" to be more powerful than his bionic arm, being able to cut through the metal cage he, his siblings and the students were trapped in. Leo's leg can kick pretty far, as he was able to kick Adam's baseball and kick Eddy up into the air. His kick was able to break through a wall.
Non-Bionic Abilities
- Peak-Level Intellect: Leo has Intelligence that is above average but not as much as Chase's and it said he excels in technology and science in several aspects after spending time in the lab. Characters such as Douglas and Chase have even acknowledged Leo has been smart (such as Spider Island) but doesn't have input on biology when they were reanimated a dead spider. He also helped Donald lay out the team's mission and come up with quick solutions. He also knew who Marcus truly was before his true colors were revealed to him. However, he could not trace any of the IP addresses Donald supplied him with because Douglas layered them and ended up dead-end after dead end. However, he realized digital was the one who hacked into Davenport Industries and stole all the money and in Season 3, Leo could also realize Krane was behind the bionic secret getting exposed with Douglas.
- Hacking: Leo can hack into anything, being able to reprogram the GPS on his grandmother's self-driving wheel chair. However, instead of setting it to their home in Mission Creek, California, Leo accidentally set it to take her to Mission Creek, Illinois. In "Bionic Action Hero, hero was able to trace a phone call between Douglas and Giselle, being able to find where she was holding Chase.
- Leadership/Expert Tactician: Despite being irresponsible at first, throughout the years, Leo became a capable leader. Chase tells Tasha that Leo knows how to remain calm in dangerous situations and take control whenever they are on missions. This is shown in the episode Forbidden Hero, where Leo directed Adam on rescuing his mother. In Lab Rats: On the Edge, Leo mananged to lead Logan and Taylor in rescuing his family. He directed Taylor with creating their EMP Generation ability and then use Logan's Energy Manipulation ability to direct the EMP to a device that was keeping Leo's family locked in the self-driving limo. Because of his leadership, Donald promoted Leo to mentor and Chase acknowledged that Leo was meant to be a hero.
- Martial Arts: It is shown that Leo can use martial arts like the Lab Rats, though it seems he can only use martial arts when he was bionic. Most of the time he uses his quick wit to get out of dangerous situations and enemies. He attempted to fight Douglas in Taken but couldn't due to Douglas being the better fighter.
- Skilled Fire-Staff Fighter: In Alien Gladiators, he is seen beating many competitors in the competition even the most skilled ones. He is a formidable fire-staff warrior and even defeated Donald Davenport, who is very skilled in martial arts, weaponry, and fire-staff, itself. To be fair, Leo only won against his father because his back gave out. However, he managed to defeat principal Perry
- Bravery: Leo is very brave, even facing Marcus by himself and an attemt to fight Douglas. He also stood up against Krane and Taylor despite them being more dangerous than any enemy Leo and his family faced, as he quickly backed down when Krane threatened to hurt him. He fought in the Bionic War and goes on mission to save people. He even underwent a rescue to save his mother with Adam when a category five storm nearly blowing her out to sea.
- Peak Level Marksman: Leo is said to be a terrible shot, especially in the Episode You Posted What!?! where Leo stated he had poor coordination. He was able to accidentally hit a metal barrel off its stand and hit Krane spot on the head though he was not intending to hit them with his arm. However, when Leo was training with Douglas, he managed to hit at target board three times in a row. His aim was off when he had to harpoon a spider but couldn't do it until Bree took over. However, Leo's aim seemed to have improved through training, and because he was able to fire at the liquid Bionic serum without much trouble.
Leo's Inventions
- Security Orbs: In the episode "Scramble the Orbs," Leo created them to protect his siblings from Victor Krane and his step-uncle and their creator, Douglas Davenport. However, the security orbs malfunctioned, as they were unable to tell the difference between a friendly threat and a real threat. They eventually destroyed themselves; despite it being a failure, Donald thought they had potential.
- Cold Analyzer Capsule: Leo created a medical capsule that would diagnose people's illnesses and the data would show up on his computer. It was based on Eddie's smart home system but ended in failure when Leo accidentally transferred Eddy into the pill and it let take control of his mother's body.
Weaknesses
Leo's Glitches
- Super Strength Unawareness: Though his super strength cannot glitch, Leo sometimes remains unaware that he is using his bionic strength, lifting one of the couches in his living room when he was looking for his smart phone.
- Bionic Sleepwalking: Because Leo's arm was not calibrated properly into his nervous system without a capsule, it caused Leo to sleep walk while using his laser sphere ability. However, Douglas gave Leo an arm capsule to stop this from happening.
- Uncontrollable Laser Spheres: Sometimes, Leo cannot have control of his laser spheres, as they set off uncontrollably when he is sleepwalking. They usually activate uncontrollably when Leo is excited (as he nearly set Douglas' hair on fire), panicking nearly burned Janelle alive, or irritated (by a fly, Leo's laser sphere blasted).
- Arrogance: Leo will sometimes show arrogance but at the end of the day, he usually learns that it takes more than recognition to be a hero, as seen in "Mission Mania"
Physical Appearance
Leo is a teenage boy who is thirteen and fourteen in Season 1, fifteen in Season 2, and sixteen in Season 3 and 4, dark skin, dark brown eyes and curly black hair. Initially, he is fairly short, reaching up to Chase's shoulder, but overtime, he grew taller than Bree, and was nearly both Chase's and Douglas' height[23]. However, by season 4, Leo was the taller than Chase, becoming the second-tallest of the Lab Rats, reaching past Adam's shoulder.
Throughout the series, Leo's wardrobe changes. In Season One and Two, Leo wore colored shirts with pictures on it, but this more or less disappeared as it went on. Most notably in the second season, he wore long-sleeved shirts with short-sleeves over them. The only episodes he has not worn long sleeve T shirts is in Crush, Chop and Burn, and No Going Back, where he wore just a T-shirt instead. However, from Season 3 onwards, Leo mostly wore hoodies, long-sleeved shirts, and mostly shirts with button-up sweater with his sleeves rolled up. In "Rise of the Secret Soldiers," Leo gets a mission suit that is slightly different than Adam, Bree's and Chase's. Instead, he wears a black leather jacket that also has a hood. However, his right arm sleeve is red; Leo also has black pants with black pads on his knees and combat boots.
Possessions
- Exoskeleton: Leo once went in his step-father's Exoskeleton to demonstrate it but Chase messed with it out of jealousy that Donald was paying more attention to Leo than him. He later used it when storming into Douglas' lair but was quickly thrown down by Marcus.
- Mission Suit: Leo got one in "Rise of the Secret Soldiers" arc. Like his siblings, Leo's is different in terms of style like their others. Unlike the others, Leo has a hood. It is able to withstand any harshness of climate or temperature.
- Arm Capsule: Leo owns a portable arm Capsule Douglas made for him so he could recalibrate his Bionic Arm.
- Fire Staff: Leo has complete mastery over a green colored fire staff he used in his battles with Donald and later, Perry.
- Neuro Scrambler: It is an invention developed by Davenport Industries meant to be used by doctors to erase bad memories from the human mind. Leo used it on Donald to erase twenty-four hours from his stepfather's memory but unintentionally removed years.
- Bionic Signal interrupter: Used it to disrupt Chase's bionic chip signal when he upstaged him in the talent show in "Spike's Got Talent."however, it turned Chase into his other persona Spike. Everytime he used it to try and shut the commando app off, it only increased Spike's aggravation. When Leo realized this, he stopped using it
