Laurelion is an overarching, posthumous character in The Dragon Prince. They are a Startouch Elf whose temporary demise and mortal vessel was destroyed by the archdragon Shiruakh, also killing the archdragon queen in the process.

Background[]
Aaravos tells Ezran that Laurelion is the reason why the Nova Blade was created. Laurelion had combatted the Archdragon Shiruakh for unknown reasons. When Shiruakh bit Laurelion, the Startouch Elf's mortal form is destroyed, resulting in a supernova and killing the dragon as well. However, unlike the dragon, who was permanently killed, Laurelion would regain their mortal vessel once their stars aligned.
Legacy[]
After Shiruakh's death, her fang was forged into a weapon known as the Nova Blade, which somehow ended in the possession of the celestial elves before being handed down to the orphan Queen. She was going to use this sword to kill Aaravos but decided not to and chose to imprison him instead. After the Orphan Queen's death, she had taken the secrecy of the Nova blade to her grave. It was hidden within the Orphan Queen's statue in the Valley of Graves.
Their "death" was recorded in the poem found in Lux Aurea's Great Bookery, "Death of an Immortal" where the immortal Laurelion "was no more" by the Nova Blade. Callum and Kazi found the poem in the library while they were searching for ways how to kill a Startouch Elf. Callum realized this weapon could stop Aaravos. He later inquired about the blade when he and Rayla visited the starscraper. However, the elder of the Celestial Elves informed the couple that they had given away the blade to a young girl long ago.
Aaravos later reiterated the tale of Laurelion and Shiruakh to Ezran to trick him into finding the Nova Blade in case his plan of turning Callum into his vessel failed. Ezran found the blade but never had the chance to use it. Like Shiruakh did with Laurelion, the dark spirit of Avizandum and Zubeia bit Aaravos which unfortunately resulted in their deaths, sacrificing themselves to protect their son and his allies.

- Near Immortality: Laurelion can live for centuries and are difficult to kill; if Laurelion's mortal vessel destroyed, their essence returnes to the stars and they can regenerate once their stars align in the sky. The bite of an archdragon killed Laurelion and like Aaravos, their body exploded into a supernova, killing them and their adversary, whose tooth was reforged into the Nova Blade. They can be killed by their own kind only.

- Bite of an Archdragon: The Bite of an art dragon can kill Laurelion. After Shiruakh destroyed their mortal vessel, their essence returned to the heavens until they can return when their stars align. It's unknown if their stars align in 7 years and 19 days like Aaravos or if the duration of a Startouch Elf's mortal vessel reformation is depending on how powerful the elf itself is.

- Laurelion and Shiruakh's deaths foreshadowed Aaravos' destruction and Domina Profundis, Zubeia and Avizandum's own sacrifices.
- Laurelion's sex or gender is currently unknown. This is weird, given that Shiruahk's gender identity was revealed.
- It remains unknown whether Laurelion is roaming around Xadia and in the heavens, or if they were executed like Leola.
- The exact time of their return when their stars align is uncertain. For Aaravos, it is 7 years and 19 days.
