Laura Hale is the previous Alpha of the Hale family and the posthumous overarching protagonist in Season 1 of Teen Wolf. She was the eldest daughter of Talia Hale, the older sister of Derek Hale and Cora Hale, the niece of Peter Hale, and the aunt of Eli Hale. It is implied that Laura inherited the Alpha spark from Talia after her death.
She and her siblings survived the Hale house fire set off by the Argent family due to her brother falling under Kate Argent's influence. However, she ended up being killed by her uncle, Peter Hale so he could take her powers as the new Alpha Wolf of the Hale Pack and get revenge on those who wronged him.
Six years after the Fire, Laura lived in New York City with her brother and nephew, Eli. However, a string of werewolf attacks and a deer carcass with a burned spiral for vendetta was etched into it brought Laura back to Beacon Hills, where she immediately went to Alan Deaton for advice. She wrote Adrian Harris' name down on a list and sought him out somehow and she learned two things; his indirect involvement in the Hale fire and that the person he talked to about he was the one who told a woman wearing a wolf pendant how to get away with murder and arson. Harris drew a picture of the locket and gave it to Laura. Later in the woods, Laura was attacked by by Peter, who had awakened from his six-year-long coma but was still recovering from his burns through the days leading up to the full moon.
The Argent Hunters cut her body in half to ensure she her healing ability could not regenerate her, and used it as bait to catch Derek. Derek then arrived to Beacon Hills to look for her a few days later, as he had become worried about her lack of communication, which is when he found her body.
