Sir Lancelot is a recurring character in the BBC television series Merlin. He is one of Camelot's bravest and noblest of nights who is one of Merlin's best friends. Unlike most of the original knights, Lancelot is not of noble birth but a man who sought to be a Knight to fight for the family he lost.
He is portayed by Santiago Cabrera who also portrayed Aramis in The Musketeers, a fellow BBC television series.
Lancelot is based on the character of the same name from Arthurian Legends.

He is very wise and intelligent; Lancelot became aware that Merlin had magic after hearing him chant a spell that killed the gryffin. He was able to tell that Arthur had feelings for Gwen, choosing to leave in the middle of the night during "Lancelot and Guinevere." Lancelot later sacrificed himself to close the veil between worlds after Morgana teared to do the following: to save innocent lives, enable his primrose to Gwen and so Merlin could continue his destiny with Arthur.
