Kyoshi is one of the overarching characters of the 2024 Netflix adventure fantasy series Avatar: The Last Airbender, based on the Nickelodeon 2005-2008 animated series of the same name. She is an Earth Kingdom-born Avatar of the Past succeeding Kuruk and preceding Roku as part of the Avatar Cycle.
Background[]
Kyoshi was born to con artists, Jesa and Hark; who abandoned her at birth. Kyoshi lived on the streets until she was hired to serve one of the richest families on Kyoshi Island. She was known for being a quiet, kind, and caring person. No one knew she would become the Avatar. However, as she got older, Kyoshi became more reserved and distant from others.
Kyoshi became one of the greatest warriors that the world had ever known. She trained a group of young female warriors who carried on Kyoshi's teachings of discipline and care.
