Krypton is a fictional planet from the DC Universe. Prior to its destruction, the planet was located in the Andromeda Galaxy. It is the native homeworld of the Kryptonians, who were renowned for their sense of knowledge, justice and honor. The most notable superheroes, Kal-El, Kara Zor-El and their family dog, Krypto, originated from this planet, as did Supervillains such as General Dru-Zod and Faora-Ul. Power Girl (the Earth-2 version of Kara) came from an alternate version of this planet, designated as Krypton- Two
Krypton is a planet within the Andromeda Galaxy, billions of light years away from Earth.
It was given habitability by a 13 billion year old red dwarf sun called Rao. However, the planet was dying because the people were mining the inner energy core for other resources. Before its destruction, Jor-El and Zor-El send their children, Kal-El and Kara, off the planet and to Earth, where they grow up to gain extraordinary powers and be Superman and Supergirl.
Culture[]
Krypton was a place where Kryptonians stressed about democracy and made science a part of their lives and very coveted. In the Arrowverse, this made them rivals with their rival sister planet, Daxam. While Krypton's initial children were born naturally, The Kryptonians later it started genetically engineering their children. However this tradition broke when Jor-el and Lara Lor-Van decided they wanted their son Kal-El to be born naturally.
The Kryptonians worshipped the deity Rao, which the sun was named after. Later stories revealed that Rao was a Kryptonian and Kara and Clark's distant ancestor.
The legend of Nightwing[]
Additionally, Krypton has its own folklore. One of their most famous stories is about the legendary hero known as Nightwing, one of their greatest heroes and the closest thing Krypton ever had to a vigilante compared to Earth's Batman and Superman. In earlier stories, Clark and his best friend Jimmy Olsen were inspired by the tail and began going by Flamebird and Nightwing. However, Clark later told the story to his close friend Dick Grayson and his foster son Chris Kent, who also became Nightwing in honor of the story
