Heroes and Villains Wiki

And honor. Honor's just another for weakness.
―Kludd to Soren

Kludd is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Nyra) of the 2010 film, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. He is the film's adaptation of Kludd and unlike the novels, he and Metal Beak are two separate characters. He is Soren's and Eglantine's older brother Who is dismissive of their father's stories about the Guardians the Great Ga'Hoole Tree. In the film, Kludd is dismissive of his father's stories of the Guardians' existence and it was his belief that his younger siblings stop taking in Noctus' s stories seriously. He later joins the Pure Ones and embraces their philosophies of Barn Owls being stronger.

Role in The Film[]

The conclusion of the film implies that Kludd might be on the path to becoming the next Metal Beak. He is last observed emerging from the forest fire, his eyes now resembling the red hue of the other Pure Ones, as he discovers the metal beak mask of his former mentor.

Appearance[]

Kludd is similar to his mother in appearance, and has top feathers that act like a faux hawk. He also has Marella's amber eyes. He had brownish gold feathers on his back wings, and most of his head. However, he has a heartshaped face and a white underbelly, legs and front of his face with a gold beak.

In the end of the film, Kludd gains red eyes

Personality[]

Even before Kludd became a villain, he got irritated with his father's stories (rather than his jokes like in the book). He is also dismissive toward his dad and his younger siblings. However, Kludd at one point did care for Soren and Eglantine before he turned heel, as he scolded Soren to stop telling their sister stories or she would suffer from nightmares. A differenece is that Kludd's book counterpart is more wicked and cruel.

Kludd may have held beliefs in pure blood supremacy from an early stage, as he informs his father that Tytos are regarded as superior to other owls. These characteristics, along with his refusal to join Soren despite being invited to stand by his brother's side on two occasions, suggest that Kludd adopted the philosophies of the Pure Ones early in his life. Conversely, it is also possible that Kludd's behavior was merely a display of arrogance in the first instance, and his allegiance to the Pure Ones could have been influenced by his infatuation with Nyra upon their initial encounter. When he and Soren meet again on the battlefield, Kludd became corrupted by Metalbeak's teachings up to the point where he thought the Guardians and any altruistic traits such as honor and love were forms of weakness. His hatred for his brother was so intense that Kludd attempted to kill Soren by pretending that his wing was hurt as they hung by a burning branch. Despite this, Soren was enraged by his brother's death and immediately blamed him for Kludd's corruption.
