King Kion (formerly Prince Kion) is the main protagonist of the Disney Junior film Return of the Roar and the follow-up television series of The Lion Guard. Kion is the son of Simba and Nala, the younger brother of Kiara and the grandson of Mufasa, Sarabi and Sarafina.
He is voiced by Max Charles, who also portrayed Spin from Lab Rats: Bionic Island.
Background[]
Kion is the second-born child and only son of Simba and Nala and the younger brother of Kiara (the protagonist of the sequel Simba's Pride). He was born sometime in the sequel, either being a baby when Kiara meet Kovu or was not born yet until after Kiara and Kovu met. Despite Kion and Kiara rarely seeing eye to eye and have a sibling rivalry, they never let it escalate like Scar and Mufasa, even with Kiara giving him advice about listening to his heart to be with Rani. He is the former leader of the Lion Guard before passing his title to Vitani while still possessing the Roar of the Elders. One of his greatest fears was becoming just like his great-uncle, Scar, who tried to use his position as the Leader of the Lion Guard to usurp the throne from Mufasa. He is also childhood friends with Fuli and Bunga, a badger adopted by Timon and Pumbaa.
Trivia[]
Kion is absent from the second film because he was too busy with his own quest to cure himself of his illness from the Tree of Life.
