King Bumi (Netflix)

King Bumi is the ruler of the kingdom of Omashu and a supporting character in Netflix's 2024 live action remake of the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He is a lifelong childhood friend of Aang shortly before Fire Lord Sozin started the war and in later years he became the king of his hometown, Omashu.

History[]

Background[]

Bumi was one of the childhood best friends of Aang from the Earth Kingdom. Whenever Aang visited, he and Bumi would play on the Omashu's mailing system.

Sometime after Aang's disappearance and the start of the 100 Year War, Bumi became the King of Omashu and ruled for over a century. However he grew embittered toward Aang for suddenly disappearing and running away, completely unaware that he lived in an iceberg for all that time.

Jet and his band of freedom fighters attempt to assassinate the king, but Bumi is saved by Katara and Sokka. Later, both Avatar Aang and General Iroh are arrested for causing disturbances in the town.
