kim Da-Eun (Hangul: 김다은) is a major character in the Netflix series Cobra Kai, serving as one of the two secondary antagonists of season 5, a major antagonist during the first part of season 6, and an anti-hero during the second and third part of season 6.
Kim is the granddaughter of Kim Sun-Yung, the man who taught John Kreese and Terry Silver karate. She is a formidable Korean sensei in the martial art of Tang Soo Do, and is recruited by Terry Silver to become his head sensei for the Cobra Kai Dojo.
History[]
Kim had agreed to this after Silver had promised that; her family's largely forgotten legacy would be preserved on a global scale by Cobra Kai karate. Kim proves to be just as fanatical and ruthless as Silver, and ultimately factors into Silver's plans for accelerating Cobra Kai's expansion after the dojo's victory at the 2019 All Valley Karate Tournament. After discovering Silver is willing to use unconventional methods, such as bribery, to ensure Cobra Kai emerges victorious at every turn, Kim was disgusted and cut ties with him before heading back to Korea.
She would eventually reunite with John Kreese and they prepared their students for the Sekai Taikai tournament set to take place in Barcelona, Spain. As if dealing with Miyagi-Do was not enough, Kim and Kreese discover Silver returned as the sponsor of the Hong Kong-based Iron Dragons dojo, forcing Kim to control Kreese's murderous intentions towards Silver. Kim was reluctant to participate in the brawl between all dojos and even tried stopping it from escalating. However when this didn't work she successfully fights the Russian dojo Tiger Strike's senseis with the help of Miyagi-Do sensei and friend with benefits, Chozen Toguchi. The brawl ultimately ended with the death of Kim's student Kwon, who accidentally killed himself with Kreese's eunjangdo dagger. Rejecting her Grandfather's teachings, she kills him in a fight and begins training her students her own way.
Chozen eventually moved to South Korea, much to Kim's joy.
