Keith (Voltron: Legendary Defender)

This article is about Keith from the rebooted version of Voltron. For original version, see Keith Kogane (Voltron).

Keith is one of the three main protagonists (alongisde Shiro and Allura) of the Voltron: Legendary Defender series. He functions as a Paladin of Voltron, piloting both the Red Lion and the Black Lion. He is also a member of the Blade of Marmora.

He was voiced by Steven Yeun. He is based on Keith Kogane from the original series and Akira Kogane.

History[]

Before his birth, Keith's mother, Krolia, crash-landed on Earth. She was rescued by Keith's father. The two fell in love she eventually conceiving And giving birth to Keith. Krolia wanted to give Keith a Galran name but eventually settled on Keith per his father's request. After some time, Krolia was forced to return to the Blade of Marmora to protect her son and lover. Keith grew up without a mother, being raised solely by his father. However, Keith's father eventually died, leaving him an orphan.

Powers and Abilities[]

He is a skilled martial artist. He uses a bayard that turns into a sword (katar) that can slice enemies, even solid metal. Being half-Galran, Keith is the only Paladin shown to be able to sense the Lions. He's also able to use Galra scanners without the use of Shiro's arm and is noted to fight like a Galra soldier by emperor zarkon.

Trivia[]

  • When he passed the Trials of Marmora, Keith has part-Galra heritage as the Galra knife evidenced.
  • Keith now bears a Galra marking on his face as similar to his mother's natural Galra markings after a duel with Shiro's clone.
  • In an interview, Lauren Montgomery said some ideas for Keith were that he was originally going to have fangs and white hair that he was constantly dyeing. It was discarded to avoid spoiling his Galra heritage.
