Kate Argent is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Peter Hale) of the MTV series Teen Wolf. She is the youngest child and only daughter of Gerard Argent, the younger sister of Chris Argent and the paternal aunt of Allison Argent. She is responsible for the decimation of Derek's family by causing the fire that started the entire series.
After the death of her niece, Kate wanted revenge on Scott McCall and his pack. However, after failing to kill the teenager more than once, Kate was forced to go on the run, as she was hunted by the Calavera family. During the final battle between Gerard and Scott, Kate was shot by her father with the same yellow wolfsbane used in the bullet that injured Scott. Realizing she will never be accepted as a shape-shifter, Kate killed Gerard in retaliation.
She was portrayed by Jill Wagner.
History[]
Kate was born in 1983 and raised in the ways of the hunter. There was at least a ten-year difference between Kate and Chris, making their relationship slightly strained. (Relics). According to Kate, Chris had spent most of their childhood make "her look like the bad guy" in any situation. It was implied by her comment of Gerard always seeing Chris meant he favored his eldest son over her. (The Wolves of War)
Because of her upbringing, Kate became a ruthless huntress. At age eighteen, Kate forged a silver bullet as testament to the code and family tradition. Gerard gets inside her head, turning Kate into a ruthless killer like her father. Both Kate and Gerard would attempt to do the same thing to Allison and it would have worked, had Allison's love for her friends prevent her from doing so.
Kate began a relationship with the then-teenager, Derek Hale in her attempt to bring down the Hale family. She got close to Adrian Harris' chemistry background to get away with arson, then hiring Roderick and Unger to set fire to the Hale house. She got into contact with Garrison Myers, the insurance investigator and convinced him to declare the fire as an accident due to fault wiring. The fire killed at least eight to eleven members. Kate felt no remorse for what she did, despite some of the members being human. The fire caused Peter to become horribly scarred, Derek and Laura fled to New York and Cora fled to South America.
Either before or after the Hale fire, Argent witnessed his sister, Kate, slaughter an innocent supernatural in cold blood. At the time, Chris did nothing to stop her because she thought brute force was necessary. However, he believes that if he had stopped Kate, then she would not become the monster she was today (Relics). She became extremely close to her niece, Allison, but acted more like her sister than an aunt.
Powers and abilities[]
- Shapeshifting: Werejaguars can shift between human form and a feline form. This form is usually bluish-purple skin with black patches, glowing bright green eyes, long and sharp fangs and claws, and a ridged brow.
- Glowing Eyes: The werejaguars can shapeshift their eye color to bright green. However, whether their eye colors change since they took a human life or indicate a hierarchy of some kind is unknown due to Kate being the only Werejaguar in existence.
- Claw retraction Werejaguars can summon their claws from their fingernail tips.
- Fang retraction: Kate could retract her fangs by having them grow from her human teeth. However, they are more elongated.
- Skin Color Shift: Kate was able to turn her white skin into a bluish-purple skin with black patches.
- Superhuman Strength: A werejaguar's strength is so powerful that they could fight against even a True Alpha. However, Kate was only able to beat Scott McCall because she had the upper advantage in a fight. However, it’s also possible Scott was not trying to hurt her, as he still possessed great love for Allison and Chris. However, her strength cannot be rivaled by an Evolved Beta Werewolf, as Derek easily mauled her.
- Superhuman Speed: Werejaguars possess superhuman speed, enabling them to run faster than even the most athletic human beings. Veteran Hunter Chris Argent confessed that he was struggling to track his sister Kate and her Berserkers. He stated that they were too quick for him to keep up with.
- Superhuman Agility: Werejaguars possess superhuman agility, which enables them to jump extremely high and far in a single bound and perform various gymnastic and acrobatic feats. Kate exemplified this enhanced agility when she jumped through the wall of windows in Derek's loft. They can also Dodge attacks from gunshots or arrows.
- Superman Durability: Although Werejaguars are susceptible to lacerations and scarring, they possess remarkable resistance to blunt impacts. This enables them to withstand powerful blows without suffering significant harm. Kate demonstrated this durability when she leaped through a wall of plate-glass windows without any noticeable reduction in speed.
- Super Senses: Werejaguars have very sharp senses of sight, smell, and hearing. They can see things that humans can't, including supernatural things like a Kitsune's aura or a concealed Nemeton. They can also see in the dark, track scents for miles, even distinguish between different human scents, detect approaching enemies, and find missing people. They can also hear sounds that humans can't, like whispers from far away. All these senses make Werejaguars skilled in battle. They are also nocturnal, which is why they can as they fight in the dark.
- Accelerated Healing: Werejaguars have accelerated cellular regeneration which allows them to heal from mild to moderate wounds almost instantly. This ability is even more advanced than the average shapeshifter. They also have immunity to human illnesses and conditions and cannot get drunk or high due to their rapid healing.
- Longevity: Werejaguars and other shapeshifters have an enhanced healing ability that constantly replaces aging and damaged cells, which results in an extended lifespan and youthful appearances.
- Jaguar Instincts: As an animalistic shapeshifter, Werejaguars possess the same animal instincts as their jaguar counterparts, giving them intuitive instincts as to how a real jaguar would behave.
- Magic: Werejaguars apparently can generate magic or perform some version of it.
- Ritual Magic: Kate Argent is the only Wear Jaguar in the series who had the ability to perform certain rituals.
- Age Manipulation: They can use rituals that manipulate a person's age. Her first ritual was one involving wolfsbane. Kate Argent used a ritual to magically de-age Derek from his mid twenties man into a 16-year-old boy again. Not only did his body decrease, his mental capacity did as well. Derek didn't remember Scott or any of his pack mates, the fire or how to control his transformations during a full moon.
- Ritual Magic: Kate Argent is the only Wear Jaguar in the series who had the ability to perform certain rituals.
- Berserker Conversation: She performed a ritual to turn Scott McCall and presumably several other innocent people into Berserkers. She performed a ritual to turn Scott McCall into a Berserker despite him being an alpha werewolf. The ritual also includes wolfsbane and a special room in La Iglesia, where she used a bear skull.
- Power Granting: Through a ritual, Kate is able to Grant the her victims the powers of a Berserker.
- Berserker Connection: Kate is able to sense when a Berserker under her service is near or when they die. It is also why Kate Argent was called "La Loba” or "The Bone Woman,” because she could turn people into Berserkers with the bones of a bear. Kate's Berserkers then began acting as her bodyguards and helped her survive while she was on the run from the Calavera family of hunters.

Trivia[]
- Kate was one of the most hated supporting characters on the show. Among them are her horrid actions against Derek, her many failed attempts to kill Scott and manipulating Allison.
- However, many have praised Jill Wagner for portraying the character and approved of how she ended up being the one to kill Gerard Argent.
- Kate was the first person who was almost successful in turning her niece against Scott McCall and all werewolves in general. However, Allison turned against Kate after she learned her aunt intended to kill both Scott and Derek when she thought they were just capturing them.
- According to Peter, Allison looks a lot like Kate, but not being as damaged. However, Kate and Allison share little to no resemblance. The former's hair is blonder, her skin is more tanned and she has green eyes while Allison has brown hair and eyes.
- Even though Peter taught Kate how to control her Werejaguar transformation, he still conspired to have his daughter kill her after he stole Scott's alpha power.
