Julian Luthor is a posthumous character in Smallville. He was the younger brother of Lex Luthor, the second son of Lionel and Lillian Luthor and the paternal half-brother of Tess Mercer and Lucas Luthor.
History[]
When Lex was eleven, his mother became pregnant a second time. After his brother was born, Lex, for the first time in his life, felt like he was a part of the family. He highly suspected that Lionel thought Julian was his "second chance" as a father. However, Lillian was mentally unstable at the time of his birth because she didn't want any more children. On the morning of his baptism, Lillian killed Julian based on the belief he wouldn't handle being raised by Lionel and fearing he would pit their sons against each other. Lex took the blame for his brother's death to protect Lillian, causing Lionel to resent his eldest son.
