When I was a kid, I thought Zootopia was this perfect place where everyone got along and anyone could be anything. Turns out, real life's a little bit more complicated than a slogan on a bumper sticker. Real life is messy. We all have limitations. We all make mistakes. Which means―hey, glass half full!―we all have a lot in common. And the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be. But we have to try. So no matter what type of animal you are, from the biggest elephant to our first fox, I implore you: try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you. It starts with me. It starts with all of us.
―Judy's speech at Nick's graduation

Officer Judith Laverne "Judy" Hopps [1]is the main protagonist of the 2016 animated Disney film, Zootopia. The first bunny on the police force, she teams up with con artist Nick Wilde to finding the fourteen (later fifteen) missing mammals.

She is voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, who portrayed Snow White on Once Upon a Time.

Appearances[]

Zootopia[]

Judy first appears in the 2016 animated film as a child. Throughout the film, she is seen struggling to being the first Bunny cop in Zootopia. She is forced to solve a missing mammals case in forty-eight hours with the help of con artist and Fox Nick Wilde.

Personality[]

Judy is fiercely optimistic and independent, having been admitting to become a police officer to help those in need and make the world a better place. She cares deeply for the well-being of others; this includes her family, friends, Mrs. Otterton's despair over the disappearance of her husband, and even Nick. During the chase in Little Rodentia, Judy intercepted every chance of danger for the small residents even when capturing the thieving Duke Weaselton was on the line. She has a big heart, and although she tends to keep her emotions under control - and even under wraps - a majority of the time, she is capable of expressing her true feelings in a genuine, powerful light. This is mostly seen with Nick Wilde, whose feelings and companionship she values highly, motivating her to prevent her own ambitions from harming others.

Due to being a rabbit, a species unassociated with such a high-stakes occupation, Judy faced continuous doubt and underestimation from those around her, from her parents to local bullies. As such, she faces people who are racists because she is a rabbit and not a predator. It also doesn't help that Judy faces prejudice towards those around her. This reflects on real life problems, especially when it comes to people's race or gender.

Appearance[]

Trivia[]

  • Judy was twenty four years old in the film.
