James "Jim" Prescott, Jr. is a major protagonist in Spirit: Riding Free.
He is the son of railroad tycoon James Prescott Sr, the widower of the late Milagro Navarro, the husband of Kate Prescott, father to Lucky and Polly Prescott and brother of Cora Prescott. While managing construction and operation of JP & Sons Railroad on the frontier. Jim lives with in Miradero with his family.
Jim's first wife, the Mexican circus star Milagro Navarro, died when their daughter Lucky was two years old, still too young to remember her. After nearly a year of living back in Miradero again, Jim became engaged to the town's schoolteacher, Miss Flores. He is Al Granger and George Stone best friend in Miradero.
