Jessica Drew is an alternative counterpart of mainstream Jessica Drew from the Ultimate Marvel Universe (Earth-1610). She is the youngest of the Spider-Clones born from Peter Parker's DNA, identified as the Ultimate Spider-Woman of her Earth and formerly Black Widow.

The ultimate Marvel version of Jessica Drew seems to be a amalgamation of the two Spider-Women (her Earth-616 counterpart of the same name and Julia Carpenter), and the two Scarlet Spiders, Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker.

Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, the character first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #32 (cover-dated February 1977).

History[]

Creation[]

Jessica was created by the mad scientist Doctor Octopus, born from Spider-Man's DNA, along with several other clones (Scorpion, Kaine, and Tarantula). However, unlike the others, Jessica appeared to have no deformities. She had all the memories of Peter Parker, showing her mind developed as she was agreed up to fifteen years old. Sure and her "brothers" ended up escaping the research facility, despite her efforts to keep them calm.

Meeting Peter Parker[]

The first meeting between Jessica and Peter did not go well. However, they teamed up to fight against Doctor Octopus. She tried conching Peter to not surrender to Fury, but Peter told her he had to for the sake of their family. Deciding to make a name for herself and no longer wanting to be a clone, she called herself Jessica Drew.

Personality[]

Being a clone of Peter Parker in the Ultimate Marvel, she inherited most of her genetic template's personality: selflessness and also, his snark and shouting insults at her enemies. In fact, most people would say she and Peter are more like twins if they are together. However Jessica uses them less frequently than he does. She can be extremely overprotective, as she overreacted when Miles joined the Ultimate without telling her. As of late, Jessica has been more serious in battle and insulting her villains lesser by the minute. She acts as everyone's older sister and the most experienced Spider whatever partnering with younger superheroes.

Jess has regarded Peter as her brother and was very devastated when he was killed by the Green Goblin. It may have caused her to grow more responsible in fear of losing anybody else. Despite her resentfulness towards Dr Octopus, Jessica reluctantly helps Peter save him and was even further annoyed when he was allowed to travel with them.

Being a female clone of a male human is exhausting for Jess, which she hypothesizes is the reason why she is attracted to women Mary Jane Watson and Kitty Pryde and why she continuously rejects Johnny Storm's attempts to flirt with her.

Appearance[]

Jessica Drew UM without Mask

Because she is a female clone of Peter Parker, Jessica Drew looks as if she could be his twin sister or at least, a gender-swapped version of him. She is fairly beautiful both inside and out, with hazel eyes and long brown hair, fair skin and pink lips.

From birth, Jess was aged to physically look fifteen years old, despite being genetically only a year old. She was the only one of the Spider Clones to not have any deformations.

As Spider-Woman, she wears red suit and red mask that covers her face and neck. However, her hair still flows. She also has a white spider symbol on it similar to Venom.

Powers and abilities[]

Human-Spider Physiology: Being a clone of Spider-Man, Jessica has most of her brother Peter's powers.

  • Organic Webs: Unlike Peter, Jessica is capable to creating webs from the palms of her hand rather than artificial ones coming from a web shooter.
