- “Yeah, I can run really fast now, except that half the time, I'm running away from people trying to kill me! And I can hear things, like-like my girlfriend telling people she doesn't trust me anymore, right before breaking up with me. I'm not lying to you! It ruins your life."”
- ―Scott McCall angrily telling Jackson what is like to be a werewolf
Jackson Whittemore and Scott McCall are a relationship/rivalry featured in the MTV series Teen Wolf.
Initially no relationship between the two existed because Jackson was a popular kid and Scott was considered a nerd. However, it formed into a rivalry because Scott was beating him at Lacrosse. While it was complicated, both Jackson and Scott form a tenuous friendship/alliance.
History[]
Jackson figured out Scott was a werewolf on his own and blackmailed him into turning him into a werewolf, by threatening to reveal the secret to Allison. In fear of the werewolves, Jackson decides to tell Chris Argent about Scott's identity. In spite of their rivalry, Jackson helped Scott and his friends into stopping Peter Hale due to his guilt of Lydia getting hurt and telling Argent Scott's secret. Stiles was also furious with Jackson but reluctantly accepted his help when Stiles remembered he didn't have a car. Even before the formation of the McCall pack, Jackson was considered a member of Scott's newfound pack with Lydia, Stiles and Allison. After learning that Derek have Jackson the bite because he was hoping it would kill him, Scott was (rightfully) disgusted by Derek's thinking at the time.
Unlike most people, when Jackson was the Kanima, Scott wanted to save him rather than kill him, even accepting help from people like Derek and his then-rival, Chris Argent. Everything worked out in the end for the McCall and Hale Packs when Jackson was killed and fully converted to a blue-eyed werewolf. After Jackson left for London, Scott and Liam became co-captains of the Lacrosse team instead.
In Season 6, Jackson has mellowed and matured since he left this home. He is no longer jealous of Scott and actually uses his powers to protect the supernatural and humans in London with Ethan Steiner. Jackson returns to Beacon Hills with Ethan Steiner, hoping to warn Scott and the rest of his friends about Gerard Argent and The Hunters coming after them. However, they are captured and Scott doesn't know that Jackson is back in town until "Phenotype," where he hopes Lydia and Stiles can find Jackson and Ethan.
In The Movie, Jackson returns to his hometown to help Scott because Lydia begged him to help them fight the Nogitsune and the Oni
Other Information[]
This pairing dwindled after Jackson's actor, Colton Haynes, left the show. It could be comparable to Erica and Allison's rivalry. However, because the Buffy the Vampire Slayer was partially an inspiration for Teen Wolf, their rivalry is somewhat similar to Buffy and Cordelia's. In this case, Cordelia and Jackson are both very popular in school compared to Buffy and Scott. Cordy and Jackson usually take any chance they have to one-up or make fun of their rivals. Additionally, both Cordy and Jackson have romantic relationship with their best friend (Xander and Lydia) and develop crushes on Scott and Buffy's first loves, Allison and Angel. Additionally both Cordelia and Jackson occasionally help the heroic team (Scooby Gang and Scott's pack) and form tenius but better relationships with Scott and Buffy.
Trivia[]
- Jackson's confrontation with Scott in the first episode about steroids has become a recurring joke and meme on the internet, especially Scott's reaction when he says "My mom does all the shopping."
