Dr. Ishiro Serizawa is the overarching protagonist of the Godzilla franchise.

He serves as the deuteragonist of the 2014 film Godzilla, and a major protagonist of its 2019 sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters and one of the two overarching protagonists of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. He was a scientist, the former director of Monarch, a close friend of Godzilla and the late father of Ren Serizawa.
