Ironhide is a major protagonist in the Transformers franchise. He is one of the Autobots who helps protect humanity and defeat the Decepticons. He is their weapons specialist who serves under Optimus Prime and one of Carly and Sam Witwicky's friends and allies. His female counterpart and love interest is Chromia, who shares his love of weaponry.
In the live-action film series, he is voiced by Jess Harnell.
Upon anyone first meeting Ironhide, he proves to be a little too eager to show off his new cannons when he meets Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes. Ironhide is a loose-cannon Autobot, who could be quick to anger, as he wanted to eliminate Sam's dog, Mojo for urinating on him. He found Sam's parents to be a nuisance and an interference in their plans and wanted to eliminate them. However, Optimus yet again reprimanded Ironhide, reminding him that they protected humans, not hurt them. Despite his crude nature, Ironhide swore to protect Sam during the battle of Mission City when the boy was charged with protecting the AllSpark. Of course, Ironhide grows out of his fears about humans and finds the thrill of battle while fighting Decepticons.
