Ironhide is a major character in The Generation 1 portion of The Transformers series. He is one of the original Autobots to crash land on Earth six million years prior to the series. Ironhide is one of the toughest Autobots a part of Optimus Prime's crew due to being hardened from the brutality of War. He has a love of battle strategy and the art of war, mostly because it is the right thing to do. He protects both humans and Cybertronians alike and dating the female autobot Chromia, her lover's interest in battle and weaponry.
He was created by Bob Budiansky, who named him after the television series Ironside . Ironhide is voiced by Peter Cullen as well as Optimus Prime in both Generation 1, Aligned and the live-action continuities.
