IG-11 is a supporting character in the Star Wars franchise, first appearing in the 2019-2023 Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. He started out as an assassin droid and bounty hunter in the IG series who tried to kill a force-sensitive child, Grogu, until he was shot by Din Djarin. Later, Kuiil found him lifeless, and repaired him, teaching him everything again. He later destroyed himself to save his friend from Moff Gideon's forces, after which he was turned into a statue until Din Djarin obtained the head of an IG-series droid from the Adelphi base for him, after which he was rebuilt as Nevarro's new marshal.
History[]
Creation[]
New Republic era[]
IG-11 was a type of assassin droid largely outlawed in the galaxy by the time of the New Republic. Nine years after the Battle of Yavin IG-11 worked as a bounty hunter when he was tasked with killing Grogu, an infant member of the same species as former Jedi Grand Master Yoda. He teamed up with the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin on Arvala-7 in order to find the child. Determined to kill the child IG-11 was shot and heavily damaged by Djarin, who was operating under instructions to bring the Child in alive if at all possible.
After Djarin left for Nevarro IG-11's remains were retrieved by the Uganaught moisture farmer Kuiil, who claimed ownership of the droid under New Republic salvage laws. Finding the droid's neural harness pretty much destroyed, Kuiil set about rebuilding the droid, reprogramming IG-11 and training the droid how to help him on his moisture farm.
