House Stark of Winterfell are some of the main protagonists of the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series and the main protagonists of its television adaptation Game of Thrones.
They are one of the most ancient families in Westeros, having a history that goes back 8,000 years, filled with benevolent rulers and honorable people.
The Starks attempted to reclaim the North as a separate and individual kingdom agai, reclaim the Winterfell and free the Riverlands, and sought to defeat House Bolton and House Lannister and get revenge on them for their roles in the Red Wedding. In the TV series, the Stark family succeeded in making the North free again and might work to reclaim the Riverlands so they can free them.
