Hourman (real name Rex Tyler ) is a fictional superhero who appears in the DC Universe. He is also known as as Hour-Man in his earliest appearances, also referred to as The Hour-Man , and The Hourman). Through the use of Miraclo pills, it gives him powers for one hour. He helped Superman defeat the metahumans who were ravaging Washington, D.C. before retiring. He was the father of the second Hourman, Rick, the father‐in- law of Jesse Chambers (in the New Earth continuity), and the husband of Wendi Harris. He also served as a member of the Justice Society of America, Freedom Fighters, and the All-Star Squadron.
The original Hourman was created by writer Ken Fitch and artist Bernard Baily in Adventure Comics #48 (March 1940), during the Golden Age of Comic Books.
