Hot Rod (formerly known as Rodimus Prime) is one of the main protagonists of the Transformers franchise . He is the main protagonist of the 1986 animated film Transformers: The Movieand the third season of the Animated series.

Hot Rod is a young Autobot who is best close friends with both Daniel Witwicky and Arcee. He is chosen by Optimus Prime to be his successor by passing on the Matrix of leadership on to him. With the power of the It, Hot Rod is made Rodimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots in Optimus' absence and must half the courage to defeat an ancient Autobots and Decepticon enemy known as Unicron.
