ImageHestia

Hestia, in Greek religion, goddess of the hearth, daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and one of the 12 Olympian deities. When the gods Apollo and Poseidon became suitors for her hand she swore to remain a maiden forever,

History[]

Hestia was the first child of Kronos and Rhea, who was consumed by her father in fear of an ancient prophecy that one of his children would overthrow him. Hestia was the first of her siblings to be swallowed whole by their father, over time Rhea became pregnant again and again and each baby met the same fate as Hestia. However, Hestia and her siblings were freed when Zeus tricked their father into drinking a concoction made of mustard, honey and nectar.

Details about each god and goddess's role in the Titanomachy are sketchy and not all together a solid story but Hestia, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hera and Zeus all fought as one against the much stronger individual Titans and eventually won.

After the fall of the Titans, Hestia remained a pacifist whose family treated her with respect and integrity.

Personality[]

Being the goddess of the home and hearth, Hestia was beloved by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She rarely got into conflict with her family, who grew extremely protective of their eternally virgin sister. Unlike her siblings, She was als a pacifist, reserved and demure who was not offended or easily angered. Instead her family members would grow wrathful if anyone did not show Hestia respect.
