Henry Brown is the tritagonist of Paddington and it's 2017 sequel. He is the husband of Mary Brown, Judy and Jonathan's father and Paddington's foster father.

Background[]

Henry is a risk analyst and the patriarch of the Brown family. He and his wife Mary have been married for years and knew each other since high school or college. They live in Windsor Gardens with their three children, Judy, Jonathan and Paddington and Mrs Bird, who has an undisclosed.

By the sequel, Henry begins going through a midlife crisis after being rejected a promotion. He goes through the film finding ways to make him feel young again. Though he isn't as overly protective of his family, Henry expresses concern that Paddington isn't ready to get into the workplace just yet.

After his foster son was accused of stealing stealing a priceless pop-up book, Henry and his family try to prove his innocence. After Mary deduced that the thief is Phoenix Buchanan, Henry was the only one who doubted her findings and said the only way they were going to help Paddington was to find a logic explanation.

Trivia[]

  • Henry used to think that Phoenix Buchanan was a normal person (though a tad eccentric. However, he changed his mind when he saw how many constumes he had stored in his attic when Henry and Mary were snooping around his house
  • Father figure of the family.
  • He is a risks analyst and goes through a midlife crisis in the second film after being passed over for a promotion. * Out of all his family, Henry is one of the characters who are practical.
    • By the end of the film, he knows how to be fun-loving and an less overprotective over his children.
  • A recurring gag on the film series is Mr. Brown trying to make motivational speeches. Every time he gives one to defend Paddington but at first, the end result backfires in some sort of way. However, the endgame is another character does a certain action that plays in the Browns favor.
    • In the first film, he tries to convince Millicent Clyde not to kill Paddington by saying they are family despite them being different races. This doesn't change her mind and she shows no problem with hurting Henry and his family. However, at the last minute, Mrs. Bird,  drunk,  opened the hatch door that led to the roof top, and sent Millicent falling, inadvertantly saving the family.
    • In the sequel, when Mr. Curry tries to stop the Browns from leaving to helping his foster son, Henry provides a second speech to him about Paddington and how he is not going to let Curry get in the way of it. However, this also backfires, as the car won't start no matter how many times Henry tries to drive it.  Then the neighbors, who were listening in on the speech, then pushes the Browns' car as it starts.
