Carter Hall, also known as Hawkman is one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Adrianna Tomaz and Doctor Fate) of the 2022 DC Extended Universe film Black Adam.

He is an archaeologist, museum curator, and the leader of the Justice Society. Carter is also the current living incarnation of Prince Khufu.

Hawkman is portrayed by Aldis Hodge.

Biography[]

Background[]

Thousands of years ago, Carter Hall was the legendary prince Prince Khufu. He was later resurrected. Ater becoming a vigilante, Carter met Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate and Al Pratt/Atom-Smasher. Carter and Kent became very close friends and they formed the Justice Society of America, which attracted them fans. During his time as a vigilante, Hawkman became partners with a  man named Jeremy. As a vigilante, Jeremy supported Carter when the Justice Soceity went their seaparate ways for unknown reasons.

Personality[]

Carter is a very serious and intimidating his enemies while protecting innocent lives at all cost. However, he is a sentimental person, as he immediately mourned for his fallen friend Kent Nelson and worrying that his partner Jeremy would die at Craddock's hands. Despite his rather serious demeanor, Carter was understanding and kind to Maxine Hunkel when he first met her, understanding how nervous she was when they first met. He was willing to ever give her a second chance to join the Justice Society.

As a Vigilante, Hawkman had a black and white morality view on the world, believing it was divided into two groups: Heroes and Friends. Upon for some meeting Teth-Adam, he immediately Saw him as a threat when he saw him killing intergang soldiers. He attacked him various times in the film and would not rest into he was defeated. In return, Hall received complaints from Nelson, Tomaz and Adam himself for his short-sightedness. However, Carter realized that Adam was not the truth threat and that it was actually the villainous Sabbac. He was even willing to accept his fate of sacrificing himself to save Nelson, who stopped Carter from going through with it. Ultimately, Carter worked with Adam to defeat Sabbac for his. Hall realized that when heroes need to kill, but only when necessary.

  • Hawksuit capabilities: Carter's Hawksuit was constructed of Nth metal, an exotic metal that gave him his super powers. He uses them to fight crime in his hometown, St. Roch.
    • Superhuman Durability: With the Nth metal, Hawkman can withstand heavy damage due to his durability being augmented. He was able to take several attacks from Teth-Adam without being hit, survive being thrown against a wall, and resist blows coming from Sabbac.
    • Superhuman Strength: Hawkman's strength is heavily augmented, striking up his powers. He was able to make Teth-Adam fly by punching him with his fist. He can also lift heavy objects, such as throwing a car at him or punching him against the building. He also broke an Intergang pod so he could find Amon Tomaz.
    • Superhuman Speed: Hawkman can jump and run faster than normal humans. . He is also able to fly at incredible speed, allowing him minimal travel in between locations.
    • Superhuman Agility: Hawkman is agile in both flight and combat, as well as dodging shots from his enemies like Black Adam and Sabacc.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Hawkman flew for long periods of time, allowing him to accomplish his mission in Kahndaq for two days and being exhausted from a confrontation with Sabacc.
    • Regenerative Healing Factor: Carter can recover faster from his own injuries regardless of the wound.
    • Flight: Carter has the ability to fly at incredible speed with his wings, making him an even harder target to take down. He mostly uses his flying abilities in combat, as seen in his fights with Black Adam.
  • Reincarnation: Being an incarnation of Khufu, Carter can reincarnate after dying.

Former Powers[]

  • Helmet of Fate: Hawkman obtained the Helmet of Fate after his friend Kent Nelson was killed. Over the years, Hawkman watched Doctor Fate cast spells, allowing him use it with relative ease. He used it during the final fight against Sabbac.
    • Duplication: Carter created multiple duplicates of himself, which allowed him to restrain Sabbac and gave Teth-Adam the opportunity to kill him.
    • Illusion creation: Carter created an illusion of him dying in order to trick Sabbac.

Abilities[]

  • Master tactician: Hawkman is a vigilant leader and expert tactician who is able to plan out his battles. He was the one who usually made plans and mastered military strategy on most of the missions.
  • Master combatant: Hawkman is a highly skilled in martial arts and medieval weaponry. He physically take on Sabbac and was able to withstand a battle with Black Adam despite him being a very powerful superhuman.
