- “Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. My friend Harry taught me that. He chose to be the best of himself. It's the choices that make us who we are and we can always choose to do what's right.”
- ―Peter Parker about Harry Osborn
Harold "Harry" Osborn is the tritagonist of the Spider-Man film series (appearing as the tritagonist of Spider-Man, the secondary antagonist of Spider-Man 2 and the deuteragonist of Spider-Man 3) and a posthumous character in Spider-Man: Far From Home. He was the best friend of Peter Parker, the son of the original Green Goblin, Norman Osborn and the ex-boyfriend/close friend of Mary Jane Watson. Harry assumed the title of New Goblin to avenge his father. However, after telling the truth, Harry becomes friends with Peter again.
He is portrayed by James Franco in all the films. In the first two tie-in games, Harry is voiced by Josh Keaton (who has voiced Spider-Man in various media). However, in the third tie-in games, Franco returned to voice Harry.
History[]
Background[]
Harry was born in the mid-1980s to Norman Osborn and Catherine Muldur; however, his parents divorced. According to Harry's father, his wife only married him for his money, as Norman was left to raise Harry alone. However, father and son were quite distant with one another, mostly due to Harry growing tired of Norman's criticism. Despite their strained relationship, Harry still considered much of Norman, as he was practically the only family he had.
Due to the lack of a father figure, Harry would fail out of every private school in New York. When he began attending Midtown High School, Harry befriended Peter Parker, despite their different social backgrounds. He would protect his best friend in high school, most notably by Flash Thompson and his friends. He also became aware of Peter's crush on Mary Jane but it didn't stop Harry from developing a crush on her as well. Despite this, over the years, Peter and Harry became so close to a brotherly relationship, enough that Harry would often tell Norman about Peter.

Acts of Villainy[]
- Harry agrees to give Octavius all the tritium he needs in exchange for capturing Spider-Man and bringing him back to him alive. However, despite Harry telling Otto off and forcing Peter into revealing where Spider-Man was, Harry begged Otto not to harm his best friend. Though it is indirect, it also led to Mary Jane being captured and Otto endangering the lives of everyone on a train Peter had to save.
- Willingly took the Goblin Serum to gain the same powers as his father and take vengeance on Peter for believing him to be responsible for Norman's demise.
- Threatened to kill Peter if Mary Jane didn't break up with him
- Throws a pumpkin bomb in an attempt to kill a Symbiote-influenced Peter Parker. However, he diverts it

Trivia[]
- Harry only went down the path of vengeance against Peter after falsely believing Spider-Man killed Norman (who attempted to kill Peter earlier). Because Norman is cured and given a second chance it is possible Harry was spared from his fate in Spider-Man 3, as he has no cause for a vendetta against Spider-Man.
