Gwendolyn Maxine "Gwen" Stacy is a fictional character in the Spider-Man comic book series. She is the first daughter of Captain George Stacy of the New York Police Department, the first girlfriend of Peter Parker and the best friend of Mary Jane Watson. In most stories, Gwen doesn't meet Peter until college. She develops a liking to him however, he fears himself opening up to her because of Peter's identity as Spider-Man.
Believing he is purposefully avoiding her, Gwen makes him jealous by dating Harry Osborn and Flash Thompson. When she is still in college, Gwen's father, George Stacy is killed during Spider-Man's confrontation with the Doctor Octopus. Peter and her eventually become lovers but she is thrown off the Brooklyn Bridge by the Green Goblin in an effort to hurt Spider-Man.
In another universe, she was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. She became the Spider- Man of her Earth, becoming Spider-Gwen.
Gwen Stacy was kind, warm, welcoming and loving person. Herdeath deeply effected Peter and caused him to date Mary Jane Watson later on. However, she believed Spider-Man to be a menace because he was (indirectly) the cuase of her father's death.
It is also believed that Gwen had cheated on Peter with Norman Osborn. However, in truth, Gwen was faithful to Peter and this fact was merely a lie when it was revealed that "Sarah" and "Gabriel" were the children of her clone created by Harry sohe could posthumously torment Norman and Peter.
