Gustave is a major character of musical, Love Never Dies (a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera). He is Christine Daaé's son who she had with Erik on the night before her wedding.
At first, Gustave is afraid of his Biological father when Eric shows his face to the boy. However, Gustave after his mother is killed by a emotionally driven Meg Giry, he accepts his father's deformity as his mother had done and choose to remain with Erik.

Christine Daaé[]
The day before her wedding, Christine had an affair with the Phantom, thus becoming lovers and between the two, Gustave was born. He was very close with his mother, more close with her than his stepfather. All his life, Christine told him that Raoul was his father, without revealing who his birth father was.
Christine later revealed the truth to her son, that the Phantom was his birth father. Christine gave him one last motherly advice: to not look at his father's deformed side with his eyes, but with his heart.
Erik[]
The day before Christine's marriage to Raoul, Erik and Christine had sex, which resulted in Christine becoming pregnant with Erik's son. Erik remained oblivious to his son's existence for ten years. Gustave remained unaware of who his father really was and was terrified of his father's deformed half. Erik realized Gustave was his son after asking Christine. Erik planned on giving everything he owned to Gustave when he died.Later, when Christine is dying, she tells Gustave that the Phantom is her father, causing him to run away. However, Gustave instead looks to his biological father with his heart, rather than his eyes and finally accepted his real father.
Raoul[]
Raoul is Gustave's step-father. Gustave doubted his father ever loved him and would always be too busy to play with him. He was shocked to learn Raoul was not his biological father.
