John Marshall Stewart (also known as Green Lantern) is a character in the DC Comics. He is one of the titular protagonists of the Green Lantern franchise. John Stewart is one of the most powerful and notable Green Lanterns and one of the protectors of Sector 2813. Prior to this John was a architect and adventurer. He was also DC comics's first ever official African American superhero. John is often partnered up with Hal Jordan, Katma Tui, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and Kilowog. Outside of the Green lanterns, John has also worked alongside Wally West and Hawkgirl/Shayera Hol. He has also been a member of the Justice League, the Guardians of the Universe, The Star Sapphires Corp and a United States Marine Corps sergeant.
The character is primarily voiced by Phil LaMarr in the DC Animated Universe (DCAU). David Ramsey portrays a character named John Diggle (né Stewart) / Spartan in the Arrowverse television series franchise, who is indicated to become a Green Lantern in the series finale of the former series.
