Gormlaith Gaunt is the main antagonist of Isolt Sayre's story.
Background[]
Gormlaith Gaunt was descended from Salazar Slytherin, one of the Founders of Hogwarts School and Witchcraft and Wizardry. Like her ancestor, she could speak Parseltongue (the ability to speak to snakes). Gormlaith absolutely despised her younger sister, Rionach and her husband, William Sayre. After her niece was born, Gormlaith set fire to Ilvermorney Cottage, which killed her sister and brother-in-law. Gormlaith "rescued" Isolt from the fire.
However, Gormlaith was not the best guardian. She kept Isolt isolated from the world and took pleasure in torturing the Muggles or animals that dared come closer. Even when her niece was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Gormlaith refused to allow her to attend, because they taught Muggle-borns there.
