Gobber the Belch is one of the major protagonists of Universal Studios' 2025 remake of DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon, which is based off the novels by Cressida Cowell. He is the trainor of the next generation of Vikings and Hiccup's mentor as well as Stoick the Vast's best friend.

Gobber is Berk’s master blacksmith and dragon trainer, a resilient and sharp-witted Viking whose practicality is matched only by his humor. Responsible for equipping the village for its ongoing battles against dragons, he is also a mentor to the next generation of warriors—including Hiccup, whose unconventional mind he recognizes as an asset rather than a flaw. While others focus on Hiccup’s perceived shortcomings, Gobber sees potential, knowing the boy is capable of changing their world.
His bond with Hiccup is deeply rooted in his lifelong friendship with Stoick. As Stoick’s closest confidant, Gobber stepped into a paternal role after the loss of Hiccup’s mother, Valka.
