General Fong

General Fong (simply known as Fong) is a minor antagonist turned anti-hero in Avatar: The Last Airbender, serving as the main antagonist of the season 2 premiere episode "The Avatar State."

He is a powerful earthbender and an Earth Kingdom general who is known for his aggressive tactics and believed that the Avatar State is the only way to defeat the Fire Lord and stop the Hundred Year War.

He was voiced by Daniel Dae Kim, who also played Hiroshi Sato in The Legend of Korra and Ozai in the show's live-action Netflix adaptation.

History[]

General Fong wanted Aang to take on the Fire Nation early before he could master any of the four elements. Fong was willing to do anything in activate Aang's Avatar State, no matter how traumatizing it was for the young Airbender. However, Sokka knocked Fong out for what he did to Aang and Katara and Team Avatar made their way to Omashu on their own.

Later, Fong sent Earth Kingdom fleets to assist others on the Day of the Black Sun.
