Gears, formerly known as Pick-Up, is a major protagonist in the Transformers franchise, appearing in the original series and all forms of media.
He harbors a strong dislike for Earth, a vibrant and verdant planet that contrasts sharply with his comfortable, gray, metallic homeworld. He frequently expresses his dissatisfaction about being stranded on this planet, to the point where his complaints become a source of entertainment rather than negativity. This tendency is often intentional; unlike his fellow Mini Vehicle Huffer, Gears aims to help his fellow Autobots find positivity in adverse circumstances. Nevertheless, he occasionally experiences bouts of sadness.
Gears possesses considerable strength and resilience, not necessarily in terms of lifting but in his ability to endure and transport heavy items with ease, whether they are energon cubes, incapacitated Autobots, or produce for the farmers' market. He is equipped with infrared vision sensors. In his robot form, Gears can emit controlled bursts of compressed air from his feet, allowing him to ascend to heights exceeding 100,000 feet and glide back down. However, he must exercise caution to maintain air pressure until he is close enough to the ground for a safe descent.
