The final days of the Republic were marked when the Clone Wars came to an end. After the Clone Wars and the Republic ended, Cham decided to lead a movement against the imperial forces that set up an occupation on the planet. Cham's movement was founded in 19 BBY, as he knew the succeeding government, the Galactic Empire, would not fulfill their predecessors promise of leaving the planet. Cham's wife, Eleni, joined it as well. At first, he appeared to support the Empire and didn't want his daughter, Hera involved. During the movement, Cham lost his wife, leading him to dedicate himself to the cause and feel withdrawn from his daughter. Feeling neglected, Hera began to spend her time with Chopper, earning a strained on the relationship between father and daughter. He continued the cause even after Hera left the planet to fight for others freedom in the galaxy. In 14 BBY, the movement involved Cham's lover, Isval, who was executed at the hands of Darth Vader. By 3 BBY, the movement involved a young Twi'lek woman, Numa, who was only a child when the separatists invaded Ryloth.
