Fred Jones is one of the tritagonists of Scooby-Doo: The Movie and its 2004 sequel. He is the leader of Mystery Inc and despite his ego, he is quite selfless towards the gang.
Personality[]
Fred is the leader of the Mystery Inc. In the first film, it was his arrogance that acted as one of the catalysts for the team to break up. Fred can be a insensitive without meaning to be. He told Velma "dorky chicks like her" can turn him on, much to her annoyance. In his viewpoint he was trying to stated as a compliment and wasn't trying to offend her. He also unintentionally made Scooby and Shaggy lose their confidence in being a part of the team, they decide to investigate the crimes on their own in Monsters Unleashed. He is come up himself a little bit too much, as his autobiography was reflecting on how good he looked. Fred is also the one who loves when the camera is on him and he has taken all the credit for some of Velma's plans.
Underneath his arrogance Fred is actually a good man with good intentions, deciding to put aside his differences with the gang to save Scooby-Doo from becoming a sacrifice for Scrappy's plot for world domination. He has the safety of Coolsville at heart and helped his friends whenever they need him. at the end of the first film, Fred realized that these we're one of the reasons why Mystery Inc was disbanded and let Velma take over, showing he has become less obnoxious and more sensitive to his friends' feelings. Fred also has romantic feelings for Daphne, and his love for her seems to have calmed down his arrogance.
Trivia[]
