Guy of Gisborne is the secondary antagonist-turned-tritagonist of the BBC television series Robin Hood. He is the secondary antagonist of the first season, the secondary antagonist/anti-heroic tritagonist of the second season and the deuteragonist of Season 3. He used to have a burning hatred for Robin Hood, being rivals since childhood and fighting over the same woman, Marian.He used to serve the Sheriff of Nottingham, acting as his right-hand man. However, after killing Marian in a fit of rage on accident, Guy soon began seeing the error of his ways and ultimately, he and Robin put aside their differences when they learned they had a half-brother.

Guy is portrayed by Richard Armitage, who also portrays Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit trilogy.

Trivia

  • Like later adaptations of Robin Hood, Guy fights for Marian's affections against Robin Hood.
  • In the TV show Guy has a major role in the TV however in the classic Legends, he is usually sent as a hired killer to kill Robin Hood but is actually killed by him instead. This may have been an inspiration for the plot point in "The Tattoo", but instead of Guy came to assassinate King Richard and only severely wounds Robin.
