Samuel "Sam" Wilson is a fictional superhero from Marvel Comics. He is a former soldier or the United States Army before becoming the vigilante known as the Falcon , a frequent ally and one of the closest friends of Steve Rogers' Captain America and later, a member of the Avengers.
The character was introduced by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan in Captain America #117, and was the first Black American superhero in mainstream comic books.As of Captain America (Vol. 7) #25 (October, 2014), Sam Wilson abandoned the Falcon title and became the next Captain America).
