Faith Lehane is a major protagonist in the Buffyverse, appearing as an antagonist turned supporting character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a supporting character in the spin-off, Angel.
She has also appeared in the expanded universe as the titular deuteragonist of Angel & Faith.
Background[]
Faith Lehane was a Slayer called in 1998 and the last one to be called by the original succession line abolished in 2003.
Even though she became allied with the Scooby Gang, Faith began assisting the mayorcs Ascension in 1999. However, she was put into a coma after a battle with Buffy Summers, who wounded her with her own dagger. Faith later swapped bodies with Buffy when she woke from her coma but ultimately escaped to Los Angeles, under the pretense she wanted to kill Angel when in reality, Faith wanted him to end her life after feeling guilty for her misdeeds. However Angel refused to kill her when he realized what she was attempting to do. Instead Faith broke down crying and Angel embraces her.
Ultimately, she found redemption and assisted Buffy and their friends in Battle with the First Evil and the Twilight.
She participated of the battle of the Reckoning by their side, then joined the police academy along with Buffy, in order to become police officers of the supernatural division.
Trivia[]
Faith's often need for a parental figure on her life is due to her father abandoning her, her mother dying when she's very young and her first Watcher dying as a result. She clung into her second Watcher Mrs. Post but that fell through. The mayor (who treated Faith like a daughter) ended up dying. In the end, the true father figure she's only ever known is Rupert Giles.
