Ego (also known as Ego the Living Planet) is a major antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing as the overarching antagonist of Guardians of the Galaxy, the main antagonist of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 , and a posthumous character in Avengers: Infinity War and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. He is a Celestial, the biological father of Peter Quill and Mantis, and the former lover of Meredith Quill, Mantis' mother and several other females
Ego traveled the universe searching for other forms of life. Disappointed by what he saw, Ego tried to create an expansion that would terraform other worlds and shape it in his own image with one of his Celestial children.
He is portrayed by legendary actor Kurt Russell and based on both Ego the Living Planet and J'son of Spartax from Marvel Comics.
