The Dread Doctors are one of the two main antagonists of Season 5 and one of the overarching antagonists of Season 6A (alongside the Beast of Gevaudan/Sebastien Valet).
They were experimenting on teenagers and turning them into hybrid creatures that became known as Chimeras in order to revive the Beast of Gevaudan. The leader is revealed to be Sebastien Valet's best friend, Marcel, who recruited the other two Doctors to help him resurrect his old friend. One of the doctors was a female.
History[]
Backstory[]
Many years ago, after Sebastien Valet was killed by his sister, Marie-Jeanne Argent, the Dread Doctors were formed by Marcel, Sebastien's best friend and accomplice who helped hide the body of Sebastien's victims. He learned everything he could about the supernatural world through pseudosciences and magic. After gaining powers, Marcel became "The Surgron" and harness electromagnetic forces within a steampunk-style mask, bestowing upon himself the power to manipulate electromagnetic fields, which he used to various effects, including controlling electricity and magnetism, manipulating the memories of his test subjects, and extending his lifespan far beyond normal limits. Somehow, Marcel was able to take Marie-Jeanne's Pike and melt it down into a cane sword. He later recruited an unnamed male and an Unnamed female, who would eventually become the Geneticist and the Pathologist. They were able to prolong their lives longer than the average human and gain the same powers that Marcel had so they could revive La Bête, the world's most notorious killer.
During the World War II era, the Löwenmensch Alpha Garrett Douglas sought out the Dread doctors for their help in finding him his own army to command. However, the doctors quickly captured the Nazi soldier and utilized the healing factor in his blood in their green regenerative serum that gave them their longevity. The Doctors called this man Der Soldat, which is German for "the soldier," who they kept in a tank filled with the Doctors' green serum.
They begun to explore pseudosciences by performing dangerous experiments by combining genetic chimeras with supernatural creatures. To make their first Chimera, The group came across Theo Raeken and seeing him as a sociopath from a young age, thus making him a perfect host for the Beast of Gévaudan. They convined him to let his sister, Tara Raeken, die in order to take her heart and transplant it into Theo to transform him into a Chimera.
According to Theo, the Doctors lied to him and told Theo that Tara wanted him to have her heart. However, Stiles Stilinski believed that Theo was lying just to get on his and Scott's good side. Given the nightmare hallucinations Theo suffered when Kira banished him to the Underworld, Theo's version of the story is proven to be true. However, the Doctors were disappointed that Theo wasn't the perfect host this time. Rather than kill him like their other experiments, the Dread Doctors kept Theo, apparently suffered no side effects from their experiments, as their servant.
At some point they came across Gabriel Valack, a corrupt Doctor who later wrote a fictional book about them so others who were their victims child trigger their past memories of being experimented on.
Season 5A[]
Season 5B[]
After bringing the one and only successful Chimera, Mason Hewitt, they resurrected the Beast's spirit and placed it in the young man's body, realizing that only an extremely good person like Mason could become Sebastien's perfect host. They used vibational frequencies to track Mason and turn him into the Beast a handful of times. Ultimately, the Dread Doctors failed in their goals due to Sebastien Valet killing them.
Legacy/Reprocussioms[]
The Dread Doctors failed in their quest to revive the Beast of Gévaudan. A few moments later, Valet was killed by Scott McCall and Jordan Parrish. This ended the Dread Doctors' dream of resurrecting the world's perfect killer.
Theo Raeken[]
Theo's quest to ultimately steal the Beast of Gévaudan ultimately failed. Under the impression that Belasko's talons would fail him stealing the Beast's powers, Theo killed his "Betas" Josh Diaz and Tracy Stewart for their electromagnetic and kanima powers. However, The paralyzed Venom and electromagnokinesis was impossible for Theo because the Beast was immune to them all. Kira Yukimura used her sword and Skinwalkers' magic to summon the spirit of Theo's sister, Tara, who dragged her brother down in the Underworld to suffer from nightmarish hallucinations. However, Liam brought Theo back to the world above because they needed his electromagnetic powers to activate a lightning rod so the pack child capture a Ghost Rider. They soon discovered that Theo had lost all the powers he stole during his time in his underground prison. Hayden Romero wanted to put Theo back in a place where he wouldn't hurt anybody else. However, Theo was able to avoid imprisonment because he remembered Stiles Stilinski when the world forgot about him. They would later keep Theo locked up in the Sheriff's station, where he told Hayden, Mason, Corey and Liam that the Dread Doctors know what Garrett Douglas was. After Liam broke Kira's sword, Theo recounted The Dread Doctors and their connection to the Lowenmench alpha.
Theo Raeken would eventually reform and become a valuable ally to the McCall Pack. By the end of Season 6, he had become one of the protector who came and went as he pleased.
The Wild Hunt[]
Following the Dread Doctors' deaths, their Löwenmensch prisoner, Garrett Douglas, saw an opportunity to escape and enrolled in Beacon Hills High School as a physics teacher before eventually revealing his true identity and colors and attempting to take control of the Ghost Riders of the Wild Hunt. Unfortunately for him, his minions turned against him and turned him into a fellow member of their kind, doomed to ride among the living dead for eternity.
Tamora Monroe's Army[]
The Doctors were also indirectly responsible for the formation of Tamora Monroe's army supernatural Hunters. The repercussions of the doctors bringing the beast back to life left his brief reign of terror in Beacon Hills. This resulted in a body count of between 50 and 100 victims. One that managed to survive was guidance counselor Tamora Monroe, who decided to learn the skills necessary to become a supernatural Hunter and eliminate creatures like the Beast. She became the McCall Pack members' newest enemy in the second half of Season 6, a few weeks after Garrett Douglas' defeat and subsequent transformation into a Ghost Rider. Monroe held resentment towards the McCall Pack members since the night when she was attacked by the Beast. She was added to its pile of bodies in a bus as a trap for the protagonists and their ally, Jordan Parrish, who left the scene believing there were no survivors. Her hatred towards supernatural beings eventually drove Monroe to team up with corrupt, Veteran Argent Hunter, Gerard Argent, to build a massive army of fellow Hunters to commit genocide of all supernatural communities, regardless of their nature or age. However, Monroe and her army were eventually defeated by the McCall Pack and their allies in numerous other supernatural communities at some point prior to 2026. This was, in part due to two reasons; one was Gerard's death at the hands of his own daughter, Kate. Second, the FBI led by Rafael McCall took away many of Monroe's weaponry and resources, shutting down Argent Arms International.
The Doctors[]
Marcel/The Surgeon[]
The Surgeon, originally known as Marcel, was the first Dread Doctor and the creator of the trio, and as such was their leader. He was in charge of determining their course of action and often was the one who spoke for the group in conversation with others. He presumably became The Surgeon at some point after his best friend Sebastien Valet, the famed Beast of Gevaudan, was killed by his sister in 1767.
The Pathologist[]
The Pathologist was the second male member of the Dread Doctors who acted primarily as the muscle of the group, using his enhanced strength to hold down their test subjects so that The Surgeon could perform his experiments on them.
The Geneticist[]
The Geneticist was the only female Dread Doctor and seemed to work more on the materials the Doctors used in their experiments more so than doing the experiments herself. She was often seen giving the other Doctors injections of the green serum they created using Der Soldat's' healing factor, which helped them maintain their health and longevity in addition to the longevity gained from their electromagnetic manipulation powers. Despite her more passive role in the trio, she was still a very talented fighter and was defeated in battle only by the Beast of Gevaudan.
