Avatar[]
In Avatar: The Last Airbender, dragons are the original firebenders who taught humanity. They are the only ones capable of creating multicolored fire. In The Search, Zuko became the first (and so far only firebender) to bend dragon fire.
The Warriors of the Sun became the protectors of the last dragons.
The Avatar Roku's pet was Fang, his loyal companion who died alongside Roku. Sozin also had a blue dragon.
Dragons are seen in Zuko's dreams as a representation of his inner struggle. which ultimately leads him to teaming up with Azula over his Uncle and Team Avatar.
Zuko, Iroh and Aang had at different points in the series, met Ran and Shaw, the last dragons in existence who learned a new form of firebending.nIroh was the first, and he kept the secret of the Sunfire Warriors for years. To protect the dragons, Iroh proclaimed that he killed the last of the dragons, thus becoming the "Dragon of the West." Aang and Zuko learned from the dragons the new secret of firebending. After the defeat of Ozai, Zuko implemented the Dancing Dragon for new young Firebenders to learn the new and less violent way of firebending.
In The Legend of Korra, Zuko befriended a dragon, Druk, who became his faithful companion. He met Druk in his late twenties.

Dragons live in the Realm of the Dragons and Oni. Lord Garmadon and his brother are descendants of the creatures, with Lloyd being a human with Oni and dragon blood within himself as well.

In the franchise, dragons, Elves, and humans are at war with each other.
Dragons are depicted as powerful and intelligent magical beings that inhabit the lands of Xadia. They are one of the rare few creatures that come in six different races for each of the six Primal Sources of magic that exist in nature; Moon, Sky, Sun, Ocean, Earth and Stars. Furthermore, each of these six races have a number of subspecies. The war ends when two human princes, Callum and Ezran and an elf, Rayla return Zym to his family.
They are currently ruled by Zym and formerly ruled by the late Zubeia and the late Avizandum.

Maleficent turns into a dragon stop Philip from reaching King Stefan's castle after imprisonment and thorns fail to stop him from giving Aurora true love's kiss. However, Philip throws his Sword of Truth into Malefent's chest, permanentely killingt the wicked witch and avenging Aurora's curse.
Pete's Dragon[]
In the original film, Elliott is his best friends with a young orphan named Pete. Lampie and Nora believe Pete to be an imaginary friend until he finds Paul, who was lost at sea.
However, once Pete finds a family in Nora, Lampie and Paul, and now Elliott must leave to find a new friend who is lonely and miserable.
The Neverending Story[]
Falkor (German: Fuchur) is a companion of Atreyu and Bastian. He is the only Luck Dragon (German: Glücksdrache) to appear, although five others are mentioned in passing. He helps Atreyu find a cure for the Empress after escaping the web of Ygramul the Many.

Smaug the Dragon appears as a wyvern with cat-like features.
DragonHeart[]
Dragons are four legged and two wings, reaching at least 45 feet. These dragons have the ability to split their hearts in two and share them with humans.
The main dragon protagonists include: Draco in the first film, Drake, Drago (the main dragon of the third and fourth installments), Siveth (fifth installment).

Eragon[]
Harry Potter[]
In the first film, Hagrid adopts a baby dragon named Norbert. However, he is discovered and sent to live with a dragon colony in Romania. In the books, it is later revealed that Norbert was a girl dragon, and renamed Norberta.
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire dragons appear as the first task; Harry, Fleur, Viktor and Cedric each defeat their dragons and achieve the golden egg. They were brought in from Romania.
Later, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, a dragon is imprisoned in the bank and is freed by Hermione, Harry and Ron. They ride it and escape Gringotts as the Dragon makes his escape.
Middle-Earth Film Series[]
In the prequel film series The Hobbit the dragon Smaug appears as one of the two main antagonists of the series. Like the book, his skin is impregnable, making it impossible to kill. He invades Erebor, first by destroying Dale. In the ruckus, Girion manages to loosen a scale under Smaug's left wing with black arrows. This leaves him vulnerable. He proceeded to invade Erebor, forcing Thorin and his family and friends flee the Mountain. Sixty years later, Smaug is awoken by Bilbo Baggins and decides to punish the dwarves by destroying Lake-town. However, he is defeated and killed by Bard, a simple bowman from Lake-town and descendant of Lord Girion of Dale, avenging the lives Smaug took including his ancestor.
Maleficent[]
Rather than turn into a dragon herself, Maleficent transforms Diaval into a dragon, with some of his crow features showing, like a beaked snout and feathers.
Shrek film series[]
Dragon breathes fire. She was the guard of Fiona's Tower when she was cursed to be girl by day, ogre by night. Dragon is Donkey's wife and mother of the Dronkeys. Dragon is a major character in the first film and a minor character in the subsequent sequels.
An alternate version of her appears in the fourth film, where the timeline sets that Shrek didn't exist in the first place. Because of this, Donkey and Dragon never fell in love because Shrek and Fiona were the reasons they met in the first place. After Fiona gives Shrek true love's kiss, she remains an ogre, meaning that the true love kiss work, thus undoing Rumpelstiltskin's evil deeds.
