History[]

Background[]

History

Donald Davenport was approximately born in 1970/1971 with a younger brother, named Douglas. The two brothers often bullied each other on a daily basis, enough for Donald to create a robot to beat his brother up when Douglas outgrew him. He used to be an avid fan of superheroes, having multiple action figures. However, he never had the time to have a social life.

Donald was one of the brightest minds of the human race and eventually founded Davenport Industries with Douglas in 1992. The brothers led a successful business. At one point, Donald would create the security home system, Eddy.

They went on to develop bionics that would be put in androids, which would perform acts deemed to dangerous for humans. However, Douglas found a way for the bionics to work in the human nervous system and created four bionic children behind Donald's back: Adam, Bree, Chase and Daniel. After learning his brother's evil plans, Donald turned his brother over to the FBI. However, Douglas got away with Daniel, who was just a baby at the time while Donald rescued Adam, Bree, and Chase. He took them to his house, where he built a lab for them to adapt and control their bionics.

Donald entered an online dating service, where he met Tasha Dooley and grew acquainted with her son, Leo. After a while, Tasha and Donald married each other and gained Leo as a stepson.

Personality[]

Donald Davenport is egotistical, childish, fatherly, and eccentric. He often described as being incredibly smart, perfect and better than everyone else. Though Donald is intelligent, his brother is implied to be smarter than him, as does others such as Victor Krane. Like his brother and his second-youngest son, Chase, they appear to have a lot of things in common, because they are all fairly arrogant, believing their better than everyone. However, he has a very fatherly, caring and loving relationship with his children, and does anything to protect them. He considers Leo as if he were his biological son[1] and the original Lab Rats as his own children[2]. This was exemplified in "Taken" when Donald personally went to rescue his wife, Tasha, and son, Leo from Krane. Despite being a family man, he is sometimes unfair towards them and grounds them for a large amount of time. He also threatened to kill Douglas when he first came into the lab while saving Adam, Bree and Chase from Krane and also angrily yelled at his brother for giving bionics to Leo.

Apart from his arrogance, Donald is a caring man who loves his family and does whatever he can to save the world.

Trivia[]

  • He used to bully his younger brother, Douglas. This included creating a robot to beat Douglas up when he outgrew him. (Avalanche, Brother Battle)
  • In the alternate universe, Donald was a cowardly but caring lab assistant to Tasha Dooley and very cautious with Leo shoing his bionics.
    • Additionally, he was the only person aware of her son, Leo being bionic.
    • He is not related to Adam, Bree or Chase whose last name is Henderson and but Davenport.
  • He gets over-excited when he has "Father-Son Times" with Leo, Chase and Adam.
  • He is one of the five Lab Rats characters to appear in the spin-off series, along with Terry Perry, Bob, Douglas, and Tasha.
    • Donald was the only main character to actually appear in the series.
  • Douglas once stole money from his brother's bank account, liquidating his brother's account and hacked into the entire infrastructure of Davenport Industries so he could not find the Lab Rats when they ran away. (No Going Back)
    • Douglas spent $2,000 worth of hair dye, colored contact lenses and a ski boat. Leo and Tasha give him a knowing look and Donald quickly tells his wife and son that this time it wasn't him; however, they don't believe him. This indicates that Donald has spent an excessive amount of money on hair dye and colored contacts lenses in the past.
  • In Sink or Swim, he was trying to help deactivate the Triton App in Adam, Bree, and Chase, though he hid behind the counter.

Similar Characters[]

  • Donald is fairly similar to Marvel superhero Tony Stark/Iron Man from Marvel Comics. Both are millionaires, assemble a team of superheroes and are egotistical, arrogant, childish and deep down, proud parents to wonderful children and caring towards their friends.
  • He is also similar to Charles Xavier because both are founders of a school that trains a new generation of superheroes (The Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters/Davenport Bionic Academy) and being fatherly figure to the their titular teams (X-Men and the Lab Rats
  • He could be compared to Batman, who was also a billionaire and a superhero with a secret lab. Leo alludes to this in the premiere episode. Additionally, both men can be egotistical at time, but in turn, are capable leaders (when they need to be) and act as a father figure to the other young heroes (Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Cassandra for Batman and Leo, Adam, Bree, and Chase for Donald.
  • Donald is similar to Jack Fenton from the Danny Phantom television series.
    • They are the fathers of the main characters who fought other villainous threats (Leo, the Lab Rats and Danny),
    • They are both obsessive over a certain topic (Donald was too obsessed with himself and Jack has a ghost obsession.
    • They have a wife who is more rational then they are (Tasha and Maddie)
    • They constantly embarrass their children and have been the indirect cause of a villain/antagonist's fall into villainy in the TV series who realize they took it for granted (Douglas Davenport and Vlad Masters).
      • However, Douglas and Donald reconcile but Jack and Vlad don't.
    • Their children have arch-enemies who have certain skills and are the same race as the show's main antagonist. (Krane is a bionic person like Adam, Bree and Chase are and he has Bionic implants like Leo does. Plasmius is a half-ghost/half-human like Danny was).
    • They're self-centered but caring to their family who they are protective of.
    • They have some sort of identity on everything. (Jack likes to have his face on everything he owns, just like Donald likes to put his name on every weapon he has even having copies of famous paintings with his face on it).
    • They are also scientists and inventors whose technology lead to their sons having an accident that led them to gaining abilities/powers. (Douglas used his and Donald's bionic technology to give Leo a Bionic arm that granted him bionic abilities and Danny got ghostly powers after accidentally turning on the Fenton Ghost portal.)
  • Donald Davenport has many similarities to Horace Diaz from Mighty Med, as both act as authority/father figures to the main characters. Both are eccentric geniuses who are arrogant, sometimes selfish and have large egos, but are genuinely nice, care about others,, and have a strong moral constitution in spite of that. In addition, both are portrayed to be childish, and have a close relationship with the children who aren't there's but someone else's. (Horace was practically the only father figure in his nephew Alan's life and Donald is a father to Adam, Chase, Bree , and Leo.
