Domina Profundis is the Archdragon of the Ocean and a minor character in the Netflix series The Dragon Prince. She is the best friend of Queen Zubeia and the archenemy of Finnegrin. Domina can be summoned when an ancient rune-beacon on the eastern coast of Xadia is lit up via the usage of the Siren Stone.
History[]
Background[]
Domina Profundis was the Archdragon of the Seas after mastering the arcanum of the Ocean many years ago. She became friends with Zubeia, an Archdragon of the Sky. While she watched over the rain, the lakes, and the rivers as her leviathan friend, Empress of the Deep protected the seas.
Ruler of the oceans[]
Many years ago, she faced both Rex Igneous and Avizandum to succeed Luna Tenebris as the new monarch of Xadia after she mysteriously died without an eligible heir. However, Queen Aditi convinced the dragons she could choose an heir; based on her judgement, Domina fully trusted the Sunfire queen. Unfortunately, she mysteriously vanished, leaving war between the dragons and elves. It is heavily speculated that Aaravos had something to do with the Dragon and Elf Queens' deaths so the war between the two races could continue without peace.
After the Orphan Queen exposed Aaravos' treachery, Domina and the other Archdragons all agreed to imprison Aaravos in a small pearl encased in an oyster. Eventuality, Avizandum succeeded Luna Tenebris as the ruler of all dragons.
Some time later, Domina killed the elves and humans responsible for the Empress' murder. However, ashamed, Domina withdrew from society, even devastating Zubeia, her best friend. Domina then gave Zubeia the Siren Stone, which would summon her to the surface during a time of need.
Finnegrin[]
At some point, Domina encountered Finnegrin, a Tidebound Elf who sent Shelley, a Giant Hermit Crab, by attacking leviathans and krakens across her oceans. She killed the Hermit Crab and spared Finnegrin, vowing that she would destroy the elf if she ever saw him a mile off her shores. Finnegrin would spend his every waking moment with a way to kill her with dark magic, but his attempts failed. However, Finnegrin stumbled opon information that both Lord Viren and King Harrow used a dark spell to kill Avizandum in order to avenge Queen Sarai and now he planned to use it on Domina so he could gain the army.

Book 4: Earth (2022)[]

Domina appears in flashbacks as Zubeia informs Ezran and Rayla what she knows about Aaravos and why he is dangerous. They show that Domina fought for the throne on who would be the next ruler of all dragons. Queen Aditi of the Sunfire Elves stepped in to guide them towards a righteous path, fighting between the Archdragons but the Sunfire Queen vanished before she could reveal her verdict. In truth, Aditi had been "swallowed" by Aaravos, instigating another war between dragons and elves when the latter race accused the former ones of their Queen's death. Domina likely took part in this until the truth was known. Zubeia reveals that the Orphan Queen exposed Aaravos to the other Archdragons.
Book 5: Ocean (2023)[]
Domina listens to Ezran's speech in her titular episode.
Zubeia and Azymondias flew Corvus, Ezran and Soren to the eastern coast of Xadia. Ezran inserted the Siren Stone into the ancient rune-beacon, which lit up. Corvus, Soren, Zym and Ezran waited for the Archdragon. Domina sends a wave of water at Ezran and his group after being insulted that a child summoned her. However, Zubeia tells Domina that Ezran is a king, so Domina listens. Ezran warns her that Aaravos's minions are seeking their master's prison so they can set him free. Domina divulges that while she does not know about the prison's location, she does know about its true nature as a large pearl inside a giant clam.
Domina is later mentioned by Finnegrin when he reveals his backstory to a captive Callum and how Domina killed his pet hermit Crab. Finnegrin tries goading him to give him the spell that his father King Harrow and Viren used to kill Avizandum. However Callum refuses to let someone like Finnegrin control him.

Trivia[]
- Prior to her sacrifice, Domina Profundis was one of the last surviving Archdragons' from the era of Aaravos, Zubeia and Rex Igneous as Avizandum was slain by Viren and Harrow, Luna Tenebris died under mysterious circumstances and Aaravos murdered Sol Regem.
- She is also one of the few people who banished Aaravos to still be alive in present day, along with Akiyu, Zubeia and Rex Igneous. However the three surviving members, Avizandum, Sol Regem, the Orphan Queen, the Jailer, and Luna Tenebris are all deceased by season 7.
- Domina is the fourth archdragon to have an episode named after her, preceded by Avizandum (Echoes of Thunder, Thunderfall), Sol Regem and Rex Igneous.
