Dionysus is the son of Zeus and Semele, the husband of Ariadne and one of the second generation gods. He was the nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation, especially known as a god of wine and ecstasy. Born a Demigod, Dionysus was saved when Zeus had his son sown onto his thigh. After Dionysus was born, Hera sent monsters after Dionysus, and he was killed by th Titans unleashed by his stepmother. However, Dionysus' aunt Hestia revived him and later gave up her throne for him.
