Role in the Series
Background
Season 3A
Season 3B
In the mid-season premiere, Derek Hale and his uncle, Peter Hale were captured by the Calavera family when they were returning Cora Hale to the South American Pack she stayed at. Deucalion hired Braeden, whom he had scarred for life when he had scratched her, to rescue Derek. Though his presence went unnoticed, it is implied that he kept his eye on the town from afar.
Season 6B
Unfortunately, Deucalion was killed by Tamora Monroe and her army of Hunters in front of Scott and the rest of his porch. Confident in Scott's abilities, In his final moments, Deucalion looked to Scott and told the younger Werewolf that Gerard feared them because he knew Scott was going to beat the old Hunter. Everyone, especially Scott and Malia, were saddened by his death, showing that he died a different man. Because of Deucalion's teachings, Scott was able to fight the Anuk-ite blind and give Stiles enough time to kill the creature once and for all, thus avenging its victims and preventing harm from its future ones.
Personality
According to Derek and Talia Hale, Deucalion was "a man of vision," as he merely wanted peace between both Werewolves and Supernatural Hunters. He was also very similar to Scott McCall when he was younger, with both of them in favor of peace and harmony between groups and avoiding conflict and bloodshed as much as possible. However, after becoming blind, Deucalion became disillusioned with his own ideas after Gerard Argent killed his pack and his fellow Hunters to pin the blame on Deucalion. He cared deeply for all of his packs and had so much faith in humanity that he remained somewhat naive, to the point where he underestimated Gerard's deceitful nature. The rush of the stealing of Marco's powers corrupted Deucalion, who became power-hungry and began slaughtering all of his Betas and creating an Alpha Pack. He became fixated on recruiting other Alphas such as his allies Kali and Ennis and determined to create the "perfect Alpha Pack" by finding unique types of Alphas, taking in twins Ethan and Aiden for their power to combine into a giant Werewolf. However, he failed to recruit both Derek Hale and his protege/adoptive brother, Scott McCall throughout the first half of the third season.
Introduced in Season 3, Deucalion no longer cared for his fellow Werewolves and humanity in general. According to both Jennifer Blake and Marin Morrell, Deucalion will do whatever it takes to turn anyone, even good individuals like Scott and Derek. As per his own words, he would kill any living being who got in his way as long as he achieved his goals, disregarding the lives of even underage teenagers like Derek's Betas, Erica Reyes and Vernon Boyd, who were killed by Kali in the name of Deucalion's mission to gain Derek's membership. Manipulative and controlling, Deucalion found out how to exploit each other's weaknesses. Despite this, Deucalion warned both the Hale and Alpha packs to cover their eyes when Allison Argent's flash arrows lit up the room so no one else would be as blind as him. His manipulations were successful, as he killed his packmate, Ennis to ensure Kali would go after Derek, who would join them in the Alpha Pack, as his recruitment of Derek would eventually bring Scott into their ranks. After Melissa was kidnapped by the Darach, Deucalion successfully got Scott to his side in the event to save his mother and father figures, Noah Stilinski and Chris Argent.
However, during the lunar eclipse, Deucalion's good nature was restored after Derek tricked Jennifer into curing him off his blindness and witnessing Scott's ascension into a True Alpha. Even though he goaded Scott to kill Jennifer earlier, Deucalion chose to kill the Darach himself so Scott wouldn't lose his status. Afterward, Derek and Scott allowed Deucalion to have because of Talia Hale's belief that Deucalion was a "man of vision." He kept to his word as Deucalion hired Braeden to save Derek Hale and his uncle Peter from the Calavera family.
Though he had become an ally for the McCall Pack, Deucalion remains manipulative and mischievous. During the events of season 5, Deucalion mysteriously became blind again and swore revenge on Scott McCall. He seemed to embrace the role of an "evil mentor" in front of Theo Raeken. However, in time, it would be revealed that Deucalion was never blind in the first place and that he was working with Scott. He turned Hayden against her pack when he convinced her to help her friends save Lydia Martin and tricked Theo into believing that Belasko's talons wouldn't help him in his vendetta against the Beast of Gévaudan so Scott could give them to Malia and against her biological mother. He taught Theo how to steal Josh and Tracy's powers and didn't seem to mind that he killed both. Even though Deucalion was the indirect cause of Tracy and Josh's murder, he still commented that Theo killing Josh was a bad idea as it made his pack smaller and weaker. Despite his rivalry with Theo, Scott warned him not to trust Deucalion, foreshadowing that the Older werewolf would eventually betray him.
As the war between The Supernatural community and The Hunters escalated, Deucalion had given up most of his violent ways and developed ways to defend himself. Despite his unwillingness to fight Gerard and the huntess Tamora Monroe up close, he agreed to teach Scott and Malia how to to rely on their senses other than their sight to fight the Anuk-ite. He taught them how to detect their opponents through echolocation, proprioception, equilibrioception, and thermoception.

Relationships
Kali
Deucalion and Kali both met each other long before the events of the series.
During a summit with the Hale Pack, Kali's original pack, Ennis' original pack, and Deucalion and his original pack in Beacon Hills, they listened as Ennis described what the Argent Hunters did to one of his Betas before killing him.
Some time afterward, Deucalion got the idea to create his pack of Augmented Alphas like himself, with him being the Alpha of Alphas, and he invited his associates Kali and Ennis to join him. However, he required them to kill all of their Betas and their Emissaries before joining, leaving only his own Emissary, Marin Morrell, alive to guide them. Ennis was the first to join Deucalion, with Kali joining afterward (though, unbeknownst to any of them, Jennifer Blake, Kali's Emissary, survived her attack and spent the next few years planning her revenge against them).
In the depths of Kali's unwavering devotion to Deucalion, a lingering resentment brewed. The source of this bitterness lay in his manipulation of her, forcing her to betray and ultimately end the life of her beloved Emissary, Julia Baccari. The true nature of the bond between Julia and Kali remains shrouded in mystery. Unbeknownst to Kali, Deucalion had orchestrated the demise of her lover Ennis, cunningly leading her to believe that Derek was responsible. This deceit only fueled Kali's determination to recruit Derek or, if necessary, eliminate him entirely. Curiously, Kali exhibited a hypocritical streak by accusing Deucalion of harboring a soft spot for a certain Scott McCall. The Alpha werewolf astutely pointed out that Kali's own mercy prevented her from directly ending Julia's life, instead leaving her to perish from her grievous wounds in the hope of a peaceful passing. Despite the revelation of truth by Marin Morrell, Kali's unwavering loyalty to Deucalion and her thirst for vengeance against Derek hindered her from accepting it. Strikingly, Deucalion appeared to view Kali, along with the Steiner twins, merely as pawns in his grand scheme, willing to sacrifice them as he had done with Ennis, all in the pursuit of his coveted "perfect Alpha Pack." Ultimately, Kali met her demise at the hands of her former Emissary and the sinister Darach, Julia Baccari, also known as Jennifer Blake.
Scott McCall
Deucalion heard rumors of Scott McCall and believed the young Werewolf to be the True Alpha. decided to travel to Beacon Hills to recruit Scott and Scott's ally, the newly ascended Alpha Derek Hale, into joining his Alpha Pack. This started at the end of Season 2 when Alpha Pack captured Derek's Betas, Vernon Boyd, and Erica Reyes.
Deucalion and Scott first properly met in the elevator during the events of "Tattoo," but Scott was not aware of his identity at the time. Deucalion asked for assistance on the floor. Before he could decline, Deucalion placed his hand on his shoulder and squeezed it, forcing Scott to reluctantly lead him down the hallway. As he did so, he sighed and drooped his head, as he was in a hurry to find Isaac before his accelerated healing ability drew suspicions from the hospital staff. Derek warned Scott and Stiles that Deucalion led the Alpha Pack that captured their friends and fellow Werewolves, Cora, Boyd, and Erica. The young woman, Braeden, believed that Deucalion was threatened by Scott because of the man he would grow up to be. However, Deucalion withheld his intentions with Scott, and said he was not afraid of a seventeen-year-old boy, resolving with the advice someone gave him: "To eliminate the threat, get someone else to do it for you," meaning he planned to have Derek eliminate Scott if he refused to join the Alpha pack as an alternative.
Scott learned of Deucalion's identity in "Unleashed" when Deucalion stopped Aiden and Ethan from attacking both Scott and Isaac. Scott recognized him as the same blind man he met on the elevator. Ironically, his third meeting with Deucalion happened on an elevator after they met again after Scott left Allison and Chris' apartment. However, the two enemies exchanged threats with each other. During the fight in the abandoned mall, Deucalion offered subtle hints that he coveted Scott as a member of the pack when he said "some had more promise than others" before looking in Scott's direction. After Scott saved Alan Deaton from The Darach's sacrifice, Deaton told Scott he saw his eyes briefly turn red and both made the conclusion Deucalion was not after Derek but Scott. According to Miss Marin Morell, Deucalion both covets and fears Scott Eventually, the older werewolf managed to use Jennifer Blake's kidnapping of Melissa's to his advantage and he convinced Scott, who was beyond hope
